Dining experiences highlight friendly, attentive service that helps create a calm, friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is often recommended for its comfort food fare, with many noting the bibimbap and the chicken as must tries and calling the place a hidden gem or one of the best Korean spots in Montreal. Overall the food and service are described as consistently good, with ample portions and good value, making it a go to spot for those seeking satisfying Korean comfort food.
Unlike most Korean restaurants, it was possible to order a serving for 1 person. We opted each for a combo (2 drumsticks, rice or fries, pickled radish & soda). However, the sauce came as an extra ($3). I the chicken was crispy as expected.
Restaurant was so good! Service was great. The staff was friendly & helpful. Highly recommend the fried chicken with snowing cheese topping . Side salad was also fire & refreshing

Mon Ami on Avenue Somerled is a true gem in Montreal's NDG neighborhood. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, & satisfying. Their Korean fried chicken is perfectly crispy & juicy every time, & the bibimbap is a must-try-served sizzling hot in a stone bowl with just the right mix of textures & flavors.
The staff are always welcoming & attentive, & the atmosphere is cozy. It's clear they care about both their food & their customers. Prices are fair for the generous portions, making it a great value overall.
I popped into Mon Ami Somerled today, & wow, what a treat! We had the fried chicken & bibimbap, & I'm already excited to go back.
The fried chicken was absolutely delicious-super crispy, juicy, & bursting with flavor. It came with a little dipping sauce that added such a fun zing (Mana), & I couldn't stop munching on it! The bibimbap was a cozy delight, served in a hot stone bowl that made the rice nice & crispy at the bottom. It was loaded with fresh veggies & a perfectly gooey fried egg. It was yummy & satisfying.
The place has such a welcoming vibe, with K-pop tunes playing softly & a laid-back feel that makes you want to linger.
I'm already dreaming about my next visit (that chicken is calling my name!), & I'd totally recommend this spot to anyone who loves Korean comfort food. Can't wait to try more from the menu!

The hot, & spicy chicken with cheese is absolutely delicious. I always get it spicier than what they normally do. Doesn't matter what you want they'll make it however you want. Plus the staff are awesome, & polite 😁
I ordered the spicy chicken with cheese, Bulgogi Udon noodles & seafood pancakes. Rich & flavorful meals & large portions. Happy that I discovered this spot 🔥
We've been to this location twice now. Both times for their chicken (fried or other) brought us there. All the other dishes we ordered were delicious as well. The person that recommended this place to us raved about the fried chicken... & they were right! Can't wait to go back! Might try the bibimbap next time.
Do not make the mistake like I did twice! I went to the one on Saint-Catherine thinking it was the AYCE bbq it wasn't, we actually walked out. Now I went to this one & it STILL wasnt the one I was looking for. This time we stayed. Now I know its the other location on the same street.
I suspect they have a different standard for spicyness because I was dying. Everything was delicious though, but so spicy!
We had the sweet & spicy fried chicken, some bulgogi soup, the little red rice sticks & some fried dumplings. The soup was amazing, so tasty & different than Pho.
The reason I have 2 stars for service is that they gave us the wrong bill. With all the commotion at the front door I didnt check right away. We ended up paying close to 10$ more than what we were supposed to.
