I would go back to Montreal just so I could eat here again. The food was so good. It was my first time trying Spicy Korean fried chicken & it was amazing. Wow. The only thing that surprised me were the limited meat options for the bbq since I don't eat pork. I was really looking forward to the short rib but they were out 🥲
I enjoyed the friendly service & tasty fried chicken. Will definitely be coming back.
This was a first time visit but have been to many Korean BBQ restaurants. The service was friendly but was lacking in attentiveness. I blame this to too little staff on the floor. The servers were definitely overworked hence the experience was affected. Menu & ordering procedure was actually great but don't come here if you don't have a smartphone as it's done through a QR code. The food had some solid items like the fried chicken options but a little of other items were just ok. The dessert items were limited to a dismal fruit popsicle or shaved ice with red bean😩. By far the most frustrating thing was the cooktops which were so underpowered & took forever to cook your food. I wouldn't say that I wouldn't come back but I would choose a quieter time & temper my expectations. The cost of just over $40 pp for all you can eat is a decent value.
Service in here is very friendly & such warm welcoming ❣️❣️❣️The person who serves us is super lovely, kind & take the time to explain us their lunches menu of what's available since they don't open the AYCE until 4 PM. When we finish to eat our food, I ask them for a to go box & before I left, they offer me a doggy bag which was so sweet of them 🥺🫶 I went to dine in with my husband to try this new Mon Ami Korean BBQ location & the food there it was good 💖 The fried shrimp was excellent, the miso soup & the side condiments (sauces, salade, kimchi) it was so delicious !! However, the chicken we got was very dried compared to the others korean restaurants which kinda disappointed me... maybe it was overcooked or something 😞 Aside of the chicken, the pieces of meat we had to cook on the grill it was lovely 🫶 I really love that style of cooking where we decide the cooking temperature & cook the way we want ! Also, the price of the lunch menu with the 3 choices meat + bowl of rice & a sauce condiment wasn't a lot but the waitress did tell us beforehand visually that it wasn't a big portion which why I decide to order like the fried shrimp & one of the boneless chicken to make sure it was enough. ❤️❤️❤️ Will come back again to try their AYCE in the futur ❤️ Side note: it was hilarious to see not 1 but several birds wandering around in the diner (I didn't get the chance to take a picture when they had like 6 near our tables).
The fried chicken was super tasty but to take a drum stick & a tigh cut it in 6 + a frie & charge me 39$ is dishonest. Must be a good place to go out with friends staff is nice but yeah take out never again. PS the chicken was really good if it was full pieces I wouldn't be complaining
The fried chicken was amazing. There's a lot of parking once Jean Talon Market is closed.
We visited the restaurant on Mother's Day & discovered that reservations are required. After booking a table for two, we received an email confirmation. When we arrived at 7:30 PM, the restaurant was extremely busy. The staff asked us to wait a while as they prepared our table. Given the late hour & having our baby with us, we opted not to order the BBQ specialties. The staff took the time to explain the menu & inform us of any unavailable items. We ordered quickly, choosing Bibimbap, a Ramyun Cremeux Deluxe with Tteokbokki, & a take-home order of Chigolgi Fried Chicken. Our food arrived in a little over 15 minutes. The portions were large, but I found the meat-to-vegetable-&-rice base ratio somewhat less, & the taste was average. The creamy ramen was also mediocre, (sad to say). The price seemed high for the quality. The fried chicken, which I tried at home, was quite salty for my taste & it was tough. The restaurant's ambiance was lively & loud. This place is great for people who prefer cheerful vibe. Our clothes smelled like KBBQ, as we anticipated. However, the strong odor made us wonder if the ventilation system could be improved. We also wondered whether the restaurant still wipes down & disinfects their menus like many did during the COVID era. Overall, it was an average experience-neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down.
Mon Ami Korean BBQ Jean-Talon is a delightful spot for a taste of Korean cuisine. Finding parking nearby was surprisingly easy, which is always a plus in a busy area. During my visit, the restaurant was bustling, & although the staff struggled to keep up, it was clear that they were doing their best with the limited number of employees on hand. The Bibimbap I tried was excellent, offering a great balance of flavors & a satisfying portion size. The ingredients were fresh, & the dish was well-prepared. The fried chicken was also delicious, crispy, & flavorful, though it did seem a bit overpriced compared to the Bibimbap. Despite this, the quality of the food was undeniable, & both dishes were thoroughly enjoyable. The ambiance of the restaurant was lively & pleasant, making it a nice place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. However, the high volume of customers during peak hours did affect the service quality. It's evident that the restaurant could benefit from hiring more staff to ensure a smoother experience for diners. Overall, it was a good dining experience. Mon Ami Korean BBQ Jean-Talon offers tasty food & a lively atmosphere, but with the wide range of dining options available in the city, it may not stand out enough to warrant frequent visits. Nonetheless, it's worth trying if you're in the area & craving Korean BBQ.
The 2 fried chicken we ordered tasted like it has been sitting all day, so chewy in the mouth impossible to eat & not tasty at all.
