Modavie is a timeless place that brings us back to our roots, where ladies & gents gather and eat in a lively atmosphere caused by great conversation, live music and the wooden scents of a vintage room. Born in 1997, it quickly became popular among locals & visitors, and is now considered a Montreal institution.
Treat yourself to refined French fare in an antique & dimmed corner locale spawning two floors. From the classic beef tartare, to tasty sweetbread, to the famous ratatouille, your cravings will be easily satiated.

Had two bottles of red wine & four food items in the dinner including 12 oysters/1 salad/1 French onion soup/1 steak frites, & the total came to $240 with taxes & plus 18% tip was added/paid. (Just two wine bottles were of $120 plus tax). It was nice speaking with Daniel, the bar tender. Food was fresh. It was an alright experience.View more
Nice atmosphere, included live music. The drinks were delicious. The bone marrow was unimpressive. The French onion soup was terrific!!! Mushroom risotto has WAY to much cheese sauce compared to the rice. The rice was swimming in the cheese sauce. I would try again.View more
One of my favourite restaurants in Montreal. It never disappoints. Highly recommend the escargot & the crème brûlée!View more
I really chose this place because they offered live music which didn't disappoint. You really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. The food was delicious. We had the escargot since we wanted to have a French Canadian food experience. The truffle fries were delicious. I also had the rack of lamb, which was good. The drinks were also really good, but we are too full to have dessert which I guess I'll have to come back for at some point when I'm in Montreal again. The staff were absolutely lovely & it was just an overall great evening.View more
Great place for a nice quiet elegant meal as a date or with family.View more
I am from Toronto & I go to Montreal almost every year. & I always go to this restaurant to have their mussel & fries. It is very delicious & tasty & fresh! I would recommend it to anyone!View more
We tried out Modavie after a couple of truly superb means at Gibbys & Marcella. The food here was quite good, but not as good as the other two restaurants imho. & I was a little surprised by the $7 up-charge for a bit of blue cheese on my steak, not enough to appreciably change the flavour.View more
Had a very good experience here. The Live Music is awesome.View more
Full 5 star meal! Everything was fantastic. Service, food, & drinks were all A+.View more
We went there on saturday evening. There was a live band which was cool & good music. However the service could be better. You shouldn't have to ask the waitress for water. Its looks like I had to beg for water & she didn't ask if food was ok. I didn't feel a warmth in her service. The type of vibe "I have to do my job & serve them".
I've ordered linguine seafood. Quality was good & tasty but it was overly small & very pricey,
as well as for the drinks I thought it would be a bigger plate for the price. They didn't serve any bread which is a minus.
So if you are really hungry & you're not ready to spend hundreds of dollars don't come here.View more

Modavie is a true standout, even in the heart of Montreal's bustling tourist district! Despite its location, it feels like a hidden gem with exceptional food, warm service, & an unbeatable atmosphere. The food was absolutely amazing-every dish was perfectly prepared & bursting with flavor. Our server was incredibly friendly & attentive, making us feel right at home & enhancing our overall experience. The live jazz music was a highlight & added a touch of elegance to the evening. It's clear the musicians were incredibly talented, & we truly appreciated the ambiance they created. The only downside was the noise from some of the other clients. They were quite loud & didn't seem to appreciate the beautiful music as much as we did. However, that didn't stop us from enjoying the experience. If you're looking for great food, excellent service, & live jazz in Montreal, Modavie is absolutely worth a visit!View more
They have live Jazz for dinner & brunch & we went for dinner. It's upstairs & it's very nice ambiance overall. The food was good as well, the waitress gave us an excellent service. Will definitely be back.View more
"Just do it" is a Nike quote, in French it would be "fais-le" this saying can be applied perfectly to this restaurant. Just go. The food is not describable in words… you will have to go for yourself. Alvin is the best, overall service was kinda mind blowing. Atmosphere made me feel like I was in a delicious fantasy. 6 stars (if I could)View more
Such a great place. Great service from our waiter Renault. Everyone in our party loved there meal. We went on a Saturday & the live music was excellent. Busy place but quick attentive service. Did not wait long for our food.View more
After 6 visits brunch, dinner, drinks, I haven't had a bad experience. For a restaurant that has every right to be pretentious they go out of their way to be the opposite. Not to mention the incredible live music.View more
Applause to the chef. My favorite was the the bone marrow & the salmon. Everything was nicely seasoned & evenly cooked.View more
The food service & the ambiance were excellent. It is a busy restaurant & you have a limit of 2 hours & you can not enjoy fully the evening.View more
All the food was amazing but a special shout out to the unique chocolate mousse pyramid. Absolutely fantastic.View more
This might be my favorite restaurant in the world. The food alone makes this five stars. I've had the mushroom risotto topped with braised lamb, linguini with duck confit, & the lamb chops. All were excellent. Great wine selection. Chocolate mousse pyramid for dessert was amazing. The live music is the best I've ever seen while dining. Each time we visited Modavie, we saw GL Chambers & Band who perform a soulful mix of rock & blues. They are so talented & play with such a warm spirit. The music brings Modavie from a five star restaurant to a special must-visit destination.View more
