Lots of fun desserts & drinks at this little matcha cafe! We tried the matcha tiramisu & a yuzu matcha. The tiramisu had a very strong matcha flavor & was so so creamy. This is the perfect spot for any matcha lover!
Matcha Zanmai is a great little shop to buy yourself a drink or a little treat! It was very cozy & what we bought was delicious! I totally recommend to matcha lovers!

Love their drinks & desserts. Their zanmai signature ice cream has a lot of toppings inside such as azuki beans & matcha jelly. They're all pretty good & the combination is very fun to eat.
The place is very small & there aren't many seats.
My go-to place for matcha drinks & snacks in Montreal so far.
I usually order their iced matcha latte with vanilla syrup. The drink is well balanced, not too sweet even with added syrup. The amount of ice is just what I'm looking for, not too much, especially since I drink quite fast.
I am most impressed by their service. Even with a lineup from the door, the staff move through the orders quickly. Furthermore, the service is always friendly from the people serving to the people handing off the drinks. Overall, the atmosphere is very welcoming here!

No words could even describe how much I love this spot. The matcha there is really REALLY good, as a japanese person I can guarantee that it's the best place to get any matcha desserts or drinks! The food is not too sweet at all, the ice cream is always soooo good, the price is a little high but pretty much expected for the quality of the matcha & the treats. Very friendly staff, very nice ambiance, sometimes a little crowded but it's fine. Good spot for matcha enjoyers or for people who never tasted matcha, I always recommend this place to everyone!!🩷❤?🧡
I'm a regular at this place, the ice cream is delicious - big fan of the matcha ice cream with matcha cake (#17). I also highly recommend their mochi matcha, matcha cookies & chocolate matcha cookies with sea salt (trust me they are delicious).
The matcha latte is also amazing, just don't expect it to be extra sweet, if you have been drinking matcha for a while it will be great, if not I suggest to add a sweetener.

The staff is super friendly & I love the pastries here. I also enjoy the variety of Matcha drinks they offer. Only giving a 4 star because i found the basic Matcha latte to be a little weak in taste, but it's probably just a personal preference!
Their matcha & hojicha powders taste very good. I was impressed by the size of the drink I got & didn't find the price extraordinary. Clean environment, nice ambience, & friendly staff who work quickly. I also really like the mochi desserts.
What a gem!! I'm always on the hunt for a great matcha spot, so I was super excited when a Montreal local recommended this delightful Chinatown shop! The shop itself looks rather unassuming - tucked away in a little side alley with space for only a few small tables - but looks can absolutely be deceiving. They have a variety of great matcha dishes, ranging from classic ceremonial matcha to creative matcha lattes to some of the best matcha ice cream I've had in North America. It had been a pretty hot day (quite rare for Montreal in May), so I was craving something cold & sweet...the perfect mood to try out their matcha soft serve. They offer a variety of toppings, including matcha cake, mochi, red bean, & soybean powder; however, if you're as indecisive as I am, you can try them all with the Zanmai Signature.
The ice cream was phenomenal - it was rich, creamy, & not overly sweet. You can absolutely taste the earthy, slightly bitter, slightly floral matcha, balanced out by just enough sugar. The toppings also helped make the parfait more interesting, with various pops of flavor & texture; you do have to eat the mochi pretty quickly, though, as the cold ice cream tends to make the mochi harden up & become less chewy or fun to eat.
All in all, I was super impressed by this spot! The staff was friendly, the ice cream was outstanding, & the space was nice & cozy. I can't wait to come back & sample some of their drinks!
for the first time, I got iced matcha latte, & it was SOOO good. there was so much matcha flavoured, even after I shaked the latte to mix it properly. I did not add any additional syrup (it comes with two spoons of sugar), so for sweet-toothers, it might appear bitter. furthermore, my friends & I always get a matcha frappe with mixed ice cream on top to share, & it's one of the best desserts! yummy & filling :) if you are looking for quality matcha drinks & desserts, definitely recommend!

I had never tried matcha before, & I decided to go for a matcha latte & a mille crêpes cake. I personally preferred the cake over the drink, but that really comes down to individual taste.

You, yes you that clicked on matcha zanmai reviews. You probably wonder: Is this even a place worth checking? What if I don't like their products? Well, let me tell you something. I used to be a person who enjoyed matcha pretty rarely, because other companies selling matcha lattes just sweetenend them too much, & filled most of their drinks with water. However, this place is on another level!!! Their matcha drinks & desserts are delicious, especially if you're a matcha enthusiast & want to refine your taste. Their foods are concentrated with matcha, & you get the perfect amount of sweetness, creaminess & softness you can get in a drink, cake, mochi, ice cream... I swear, I am buying stuff from there so often that I had to buy my own matcha at home because otherwise all my money would go to the restaurant hahaha. 10000000% recommend, you WILL love it :)
Great place for matcha lovers. Inside the cafe it smelt really nice & the staff were very welcoming & happy to be there. Went like 20 minutes before closing, but despite that, me & my friends recieved our orders decently fast. We ordered a matcha drink & matcha ice cream which tasted pretty good. Would recommend this matcha spot!
I had high hopes for this place given all the hype, but honestly, it didn't quite deliver. The matcha drink was good - smooth & nicely presented - but not exceptional. For a spot that's known for its matcha, I expected a stronger, more distinctive flavor. Instead, it felt a bit diluted & lacked that bold, earthy kick I was looking for.
What really brought the experience down was the price. It's definitely on the expensive side, & while I don't mind paying more for quality, I didn't feel like I got my money's worth here. The vibe is trendy & Instagram-worthy, but overall, it felt more style than substance. Glad I tried it once, but I wouldn't rush back.
