Marven's est perçu comme une institution montréalaise de cuisine grecque, un restaurant familial de Parc Extension où les portions généreuses et la valeur des plats restent constantes, l'ambiance chaleureuse et conviviale et le service rapide et attentif sont souvent cités en point fort. Les calamars frits et les côtelettes d'agneau, le souvlaki et les plats de steak grillé, accompagnés de pita et de salade grecque avec tzatziki maison, reviennent fréquemment comme des classiques du menu, tout comme la sauce secrète qui ajoute une touche appréciée. Bien que l'enthousiasme soit majoritaire, la fréquentation peut générer des files d'attente, surtout le week-end, et l'établissement fonctionne en grande partie en espèces avec un distributeur sur place; ce n'est pas idéal pour tous, et quelques critiques signalent des améliorations possibles au niveau de l'organisation en période d'affluence ou du confort. Dans l'ensemble, l'expérience reste chaleureuse et rassurante, caractérisée par des portions généreuses et des plats bien travaillés qui en font une destination régulière pour ceux qui recherchent de la nourriture grecque authentique et abordable dans une ambiance familiale.
A deliciousy fresh meal & a great amount of food for the price. Make sure to have cash because it is cash only. The money spent gets a lot of food. Pictured is the two gyro plate with fries & rice which comes with a big Greek salad (with the best feta I've had in Montréal) & three pieces of garlic bread. I also ordered their platter of the calamari. Other reviews raved about the calamari & I see why: it is lightly fried & it is the largest portion of calamari I've ever seen. This meal for $52 could have fed two people & there still would have been leftovers.
Excellent food, great staff! Come earlier to make sure there's room as there are no reservation. Cash payment only but there is ATM onsite. My Papou used to go there often & it's worth it, very good... 😊🩷🇬🇷

Fried calamari were decent but lacked tenderness. The meat was very salty & not very tender. Caesar salad: average . Greek salad: good. The service was perfect. It's a loud place so hearing my friends wasn't easy. The only beer is Greek & there is no alcohol free beer. Cash only.
Marven's was a fantastic experience. From the quick service to the vibe it was amazing. The server was nice & the food was perfect.The only thing to note is that they only take cash & there is an ATM machine downstairs.
Big portions, everything tasted great. Only downside is that it's cash only, so either think ahead & bring cash or you risk paying ATM fees (one in the basement)
It's stuck in time that place. Don't get me wrong....good food but you have to go with the times. Kinda sketch when u don't accept any sort of credit or payment method other then cash. In the old days...sure cash was the way to go but in 2024...mmm. Overall it's good food.
We were for lunch but after the lunch rush! Totally recommended for the time & the food. Attn: CASH only. Food: flavors are on point, family meal flavors done right. Yes, price is high but portions are huge. We have to take some leftovers to-go. Calamari is a must but also huge so sharing among 2 or 3 friends is better. Steaks are also humongous, prepare your stomach well in advance. Sauce: traditional sweet & tomato-ey sauce on the table (see pics) are a must with calamari. Drink: Fix beer is a nice larger that would cut the greasiness from food. Vibe: small, cozy, wooden cottage vibe. Very familial & local. Super attentive waiters. Dine there & walk to parc Jarry for digestion on a nice sunny day will complete your afternoon with relaxation.

Impossibly crowded restaurant which, unfortunately , doesn't create a good first impression when you are waiting in the doorway for your table. Staff does a remarkable job trying to accommodate every arrival. The food is good, your basic chicken, pork, or lamb on a pita or in a platter, but I have to ask myself is it worth the wait? Cash only & no reservations makes little sense & seems to accommodate the owner more than the customers. Don't think I will be back for awhile.
Is been around for long therefore it is good, BUT the seating is way too crowded & gets very loud ( not able to hold a conversation). Keep in mind: no reservations, & CASH only !

I guess I have been living under a rock if I've never heard of Marven's! A hidden gem because the value is unbeatable. Huge portions & tasty. You have to try the calamari, crispy on the outside & tender in the inside. Every employee was so courteous & the one waiter was very hospitable. I am definitely coming back & telling everyone I know about this place. ***Only downside is that it's a cash only establishment.***
Best Greek restaurant in the Montreal area for sure! Everything is tasty & fresh. The portions are very big! They only take cash so you should think of withdrawing some before, but there's an ATM in the basement of the restaurant. Also it's a first come first sit kind of place, so during the busy times you're gonna have to wait, but the wait is worth! 5 stars to this place for the quality of the food & the great service!
Ordered here in the past for take out & the food is pretty good. Came in for lunch & the menu doesn't say what's included. The server didn't say anything but we asked & there was a choice of salad, rice or fries or both. I would maybe understand if it was busy but it was not. Also they only accepted cash during our visit.
Quality of food has gone down extremely; especially their pita plates. They are willing to serve cold, overcooked meat stuffed into a pita that's mostly empty ... hardly any tomatoes, onions or tzatziki to help make the pita less dry. The Caesar salad was made with old wilted lettuce, the fries were limp & cold, as well as the rice. Used to be one of the best places to eat souvlaki, is now on my list to avoid. Service was mediocre, bus boy was the best out of everyone there. As well, the cash only policy needs to go; who carries cash nowadays, & why do they only want cash?
