I used to come here a few times a week, but over the last couple of years the fillings in the sandwiches have gotten thinner & thinner, & it's honestly sad. I understand inflation, but I'd rather pay a bit more & get the generously filled sandwiches you used to make.

Just a block from the popular Jean-Talon Market, Marché H?ng Phát is a Vietnamese grocery that also serves bánh mì sandwiches for only $7 CAD-easily one of the best food deals I found in Montreal. For $2 CAD more, you can add extra meat, which I highly recommend.
Inside, there's a large shared table with 6-8 seats & a counter with another 5-6 spots. It's casual but convenient for a quick bite. On my first visit, I tried the grilled pork & found the meat portion very thin, so the second time I ordered extra meat, which made a big difference. The sandwiches are served in classic style with house-made mayo, pickled carrots & daikon, jalapenos, & cucumber.
I also tried the BBQ pork option, but it turned out to be more like deli-style sandwich meat, not the char siu BBQ pork I was hoping for-so I wouldn't order that again. Other options include beef, meatball, & shredded chicken.
The menu is written in Vietnamese, French, & English. The staff preparing the sandwiches may not be fluent in English, but they understand enough that you can point, & the staff at the register do speak English. Pro tip: if you're dining in & want your sandwich toasted, ask while they're making it-before it's wrapped-& they'll toast it for free.
If you're already visiting Jean-Talon Market, this is a fantastic stop for an authentic, affordable bánh mì.

I love this place for its convenience & the fact that they are truly delicious banh mi's. The only downfall is one employee who really does not put any love in making the sandwiches & most times skimps out on the ingredients, the rest of the team are friendly & clearly put care into making a good banh mi but it's really a shame that I leave disappointed whenever I get my sandwich made by what seems to be one of the managers… for the most part I love this place but I truly am bummed out when I see it's them making my sandwich:

Fast paced, regular lunch spot that never disappoints!
I typically order a classic, lemongrass beef, or meatball banh mi, but have also got their curry soup, which was flavourful & filling. They have veggie sandwich options too.
The prices are affordable & they have a solid selection of snacks, pre-packaged Vietnamese dishes, & drinks (Le Selzter pictured) to choose from. You can't go wrong!

Is the Bahn Mi the world's best sandwich? Perhaps. Is Hung Phat the best bahn mi in Montreal? Quite possibly. Can you get a better deal anywhere else for $6.95? Not in this day & age it seems

Depuis mon enfance je vais manger à ce restaurant & même à ce jour j'y vais encore & JAMAIS je n'es été déçu. Mes sandwich préférés sont celui au poulet & celui au boeuf. C'est un incontournable quand je suis en ville.

Assembly line sandwich that produces the most delicious Banh Mi. Take the Hanoi Subway & get off at deliciousness. The best thing about Hung Phat isn't the girth of their baguettes but how they use them to delivery culinary pleasure.

Marché Hung Phat serves up one of the best banh mi sandwiches I've ever had in Canada! The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside yet soft inside, & the fillings were fresh & flavorful, with just the right balance of meats, pickled veggies, & a hint of spice. Each bite had that perfect mix of crunch & savory goodness. It was so good that I couldn't leave without ordering another one to take back to Vancouver! If you're in the area & craving authentic Vietnamese flavors, Marché Hung Phat is a must-visit!

We've been getting our Banh MI from this store for over 12+ years & still remains the best in town. We know it's very good when most people from tournaments place a group order of 50+ sandwiches as lunch & snack! Please continue to make great Banh MI for a very long time & have a successful business! My personal favorite is the chicken & my wife is the beef. You can't go wrong with any flavours. Encore à ce jour, après 10 ans de fréquentation, les sandwichs Banh mi sont ici mes préférés sur l'île de Montréal. Le service est très rapide. Les cafés glacés vietnamiens sont aussi dans les meilleurs qu'on peut retrouver dans la quartier. Les plats préparés dans les frigos valent aussi le détour, tant pour les saveurs que pour les prix.

Cet endroit jadis connu pour ces célèbres Banh Mi, c'était mon endroit préféré pour plusieurs raisons , l'abondance de viande , sauce soya , le service . L'endroit n'as pas changé mais ils ont accentué leurs services Banh Mi avec un comptoir lumineux où l'on voit les condiments de choix possibles. L'endroit est propre & bien disposé, il y a quelques places assises pour manger sur place. Malheureusement je n'ai pas trouvé cette magie dans le temps, oui le service est là mais c'est plutôt le sandwich en tant que tel, il manque monstrueusement de viande !!!! Très très mince couche (ou tranche) dans un si gros pain. La sauce n'est pas la même & encore une fois trop peu. Évidemment la mayonnaise de couleur jaune donne ce goût unique à ce sandwich. J'aurais aimé donné une note plus haute mais le sandwich m'as laissé sur ma faim ( oui j'avais faim après ce sandwich) Mais rien ne vas changer beaucoup de clients ne viennent que pour ça & je leurs comprends amplement étant moi-même venu juste pour ça . J'ai pris le B1 original B4 , B5 & B10

Les banh mi sont vraiment très bons même si la personne qui a préparé mon sandwich m'a mis de la coriandre alors que j'avais dis sans.. C'est cool que l'on puisse manger sur place mais un petit coup de propre sur les tables serait bien ou au moins mettre du produit à disposition ;)

C'est un marché qui vend des épiceries vietnamiennes & asiatiques ensuite vous trouvez une partie sandwicherie, des sandwichs banh mi à emporter ou manger sur place. Les meilleurs banh mi que j'ai mangé jusqu'à maintenant, service rapide & surtout sandwichs végétariens disponibles : tofu ou tofu champignons. Les dames qui travaillent ici sont gentilles! Les tables sont propres & organisées,on trouve des plantes tout autour de nous ! J'ai vu des petits desserts au frigo comme jello mais je n'ai pas eu le courage d'essayer! À découvrir!
