I popped in looking for a decent quality gyro at a fair price. I paid $14 for a chicken pita gyro with fries & a drink. The freshness, taste & obvious attention to quality is superb. This is probably the best lunch deal anywhere in Montreal. Add free parking & the fact that it's close to Walmart, Addison Electronics & other stores & it's about as great a deal as I've come across in Montreal.
The Souvlaki Greek Restaurant delivers consistently good, flavorful food in a relaxed & welcoming atmosphere. It's not an elite or fine-dining destination, but it doesn't pretend to be - & that's part of its charm. The souvlaki is well-seasoned, the portions are generous, & the quality is reliable. Service is friendly & efficient, making it a great choice for an easy, enjoyable meal. A dependable spot for satisfying Greek cuisine without the fuss.
For her good service, her patience & the advice she provided us, our waitress deserves a pay raise. She was sweet & efficient. Congrats on hiring good workers!
The food is what brings the score down. The meat was chewy & slightly burned. There was wayyyy too much tzatziki on the pitas, although the tzatziki was very tasty(coming from a sauce girl like me, this means something). The fries had no taste at all. The Greek salad was essentially tomatoes with oil, a couple of cucumbers & two olives. The fish dip… run. But I'm not a fish fan, so don't take my word for it.
The portions are very generous, which compensate slightly for the prices & the quality.
Overall alright experience, although very mid. I probably won't come here again. Props on parking though! It's nice to have easy parking spaces in Montreal.
Update: in 2025 the food quality is not like it used to be back in 2020 or before. I don't know what happened to this place but I don't think I will go back here again. So sad 😞
2020: My go-to Greek restaurant. Reasonable prices for decent meals. Service is fine & professional. During busy hours, the customers talk loudly over lunch so adjust your expectations during busy hours. Other than that, this is a great place for Greek food.
Marathon's has been around for a very long time. Deservedly so, as they have kept they food quality & great taste along with generous portions. My personal favorite is their loose meat pork gyro plate, with half & half fries & crispy golden potatoes. It comes with delicious rice & their marathon salad topped with their famous dressing. Mix the salad with some of the meat for a delicious treat. The service is friendly & I'm surprised every time how fast their dishes come out. Marathon's is true staple of Greek food in Montreal. You can't go wrong.

Wow the quality of this restaurant went downhill, quantities of food are bad for the price, at least for takeout. The receptionist misunderstood dressing on the side with'give me an extra dressing & charge me 3$ for it'
50 bucks for a gyro pita + a chicken plate with 2 chicken sticks + marathon salad. If my wife had seen the quantity of food & the poor quality of what they called a salad, she would have never gave a 5$ tip for takeout.
I do not recommend , at least for takeout. Go buy yourself some greek food litterally anywhere else & you will be more satisfied. Felt like we were just scammed 20$ for the amount of food.
Was really disappointed by what I got & the price. Food was cold , rice was undercooked & hard & the fries burnt. The food quality was really under par for the cost. This used to be my favourite place to eat , definitely won't be going back.
I love the pork souvlaki here. Great value. Not many affordable family restaurants like this. This place does it right !!! Only complaint is the tomatoes on the dishes are consistently tasteless. Marathon is very consistent with the food quality & taste. They really know how to run a restaurant.
Very average to below average Greek restaurant. Once a great Greek restaurant in Chomedey laval on Blvd. notre Dame, the family owned business built this into a multi location & in guessing franchise model as the food is sub par. Famous for their home made salad dressing & silver dollar style (frozen) fries, all else is not the same. Service is slow Atmosphere is outdated & needs a serious update. Value. Food to quality to taste to portion to price - on the lower spectrum of value. I seriously can't recommend anything that I would take responsibility for should you likely not like it. The fries & salad dressing was the best (of the worst) & I can't say more. This is a real shame as the brand was big way back. I guess the family has opted for mediocre & money over quality & pride in the food they serve. Who's to say they are wrong. For me - it's wrong for me. If you want great affordable authentic Greek? Go to Greek town grill in chomedey or the West Island or Yai Sou on queen mary.
I have been eating here for more than 10 years. The quality of food has always been consistent. Plenty of quantity. Could never finish. Great quality food & excellent service despite being very busy
This place has never disappointed & the food quality is 🔥! I always keep it simple in my order for my plates: marathon salad & half-half (token potatoes fries & pilaf rice). All the pita sandwiches are worth the bucks & the staff are very friendly. I always go to the one on Decarie & will never change the formula. p.s. My mom love this restaurant & keep asking me to take her back. 😎 Try it & you will love it/ L' essayer c'est l'adopter... ✌️
My initial review was Good value always good service, the portion-size has diminished very significantly, no doubt resulting in unhappy patrons who tip less which is reflected in the diminished quality of service.
