Maman provides a rustic sanctuary that balances the refined aesthetics of a classic French boulangerie with the comforting warmth of a neighborhood café. The menu highlights a signature selection of artisanal baked goods, including the highly acclaimed nut-heavy chocolate chip cookies and hearty, seasonally inspired savory quiches. Freshly roasted coffee beans anchor the beverage program, providing a robust pairing for rotating offerings of delicate pastries and wholesome salads. The interior design emphasizes reclaimed wood, vintage botanical touches, and soft lighting to create a cohesive atmosphere suited for focused productivity or quiet conversation. This establishment emphasizes quality ingredients sourced with precision to maintain the integrity of its hallmark recipes. Every item displays a meticulous attention to detail that elevates simple, honest ingredients into sophisticated, soul-satisfying fare for discerning visitors seeking authentic culinary craftsmanship.
Maman is widely celebrated as a charming and cozy destination for breakfast, brunch, and coffee, offering a warm atmosphere that feels like a home away from home. Many visitors praise the delicious, high-quality food, highlighting fresh pastries, flavorful sandwiches, and creative beverages as standout items. The staff is consistently described as friendly, welcoming, and attentive, contributing to an overall positive experience. While the popular location can get busy and loud at times, most guests find the inviting decor and unique menu well worth the visit, making it a go to spot for both locals and travelers seeking a consistent and enjoyable meal in a beautiful setting.
Such a lovely experience at maman in Notre-Dame O! The atmosphere is beautiful, warm, & welcoming, & you can really feel the care that goes into both the food & the space.
I especially love the French-inspired food, with comforting flavors & traditions from France blended beautifully with a Montréal feel. Everything feels thoughtful, fresh, & full of character.
The only downside for me is the noise level when the restaurant gets crowded. I can absolutely understand why people would give maman 5 stars-the food, service, & setting are all wonderful-but when it's busy & loud, it takes away a little from the cozy, intimate feeling that makes the place so special.
Still, it's a charming spot with delicious food & a lovely atmosphere, & I'd definitely come back. A Montréal gem, especially if you can catch it during a quieter moment 🇫🇷
I absolutely love this place for brunch! It's one of the cutest & coziest cafés I've been to. The food & atmosphere are always wonderful, making it a perfect spot to relax.
A huge bonus is that they're pet-friendly. You can bring your dog when grabbing a coffee to go, & their patio is pet-friendly as well, which makes the experience even better. I highly recommend this café for a cozy brunch or coffee outing!

The place cannot provide what it is manifesting; a warm & cozy place to hang with homemade-style foods. In fact, some specific items, like the fried chicken, felt quite hollow & old. The hygiene is not assured in the shared areas. & the chairs are fairly small & uncomfortable.
The cafe is cozy & beautiful, but it's very small & not suitable for groups larger than 3-4 people. We celebrated my birthday here yesterday. We were initially 6, & when another friend joined, the owner started arguing with us about space & upcoming reservations. Although we understood the concern, the way it was handled ruined the mood. Even after we squeezed together, she continued making uncomfortable & somewhat disrespectful comments. In the end, the other reserved tables arrived around the same time we were leaving, & none of the space issues she mentioned actually happened.
Additionally, the food portions were quite small for the price & not worth it compared to other places. Overall, it's a nice spot for a couple or a small date, but I wouldn't recommend it for groups.
Maman in Griffintown is a charming & essential spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. It fills a valuable niche as the go-to cafe in the neighborhood that's reliably open throughout the week, not just on weekends.
Atmosphere:
The cafe has the warm, inviting feel of a French countryside bakery blended with a modern urban vibe. It's the perfect setting for a casual meal, a coffee meeting, or grabbing a treat to go. The space is bright, cozy, & consistently bustling with a pleasant energy.
Service:
Service is efficient & friendly, geared towards both dine-in patrons & those grabbing items quickly. The staff are helpful, & the ordering process at the counter is straightforward, even when busy.
Food:
The food is where Maman truly excels. The sandwich we had was excellent-fresh, well-balanced, & flavorful. The true stars, however, might be the pastries. They are not only beautiful to look at but live up to their promise: incredibly tasty & fresh. Taking an assortment to go is highly recommended & ensures the delightful experience continues after you leave.
Value:
It should be noted that Maman sits a bit on the pricier side for a casual cafe. However, the quality of ingredients, the care in preparation, & the overall experience generally justify the cost for a special treat or a reliable weekday meal.
Verdict:
Maman is a definite recommendation for anyone in Griffintown. It provides consistently high-quality food in a lovely setting & serves the crucial role of being a weekday brunch & lunch haven. It's the kind of reliable, delicious neighborhood spot you wish was on every corner.

Their pistachio croissant is different than any other one you find in most places, not to mention the quality of anything you pick, & their coffee. Beautiful cozy vintage style decoration, like a hidden gem in a quiet part of city.
The ratatouille & sandwiches were amazing - super tasty & fresh. Pastries are unique. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a cozy spot with great food!
I need to edit a review. The last time I visited, there were flies & the table was sticky.
