Maman is widely recognized as a charming and cozy destination for breakfast, brunch, and coffee, often praised for its beautiful, homey decor and high quality pastries. Many patrons enjoy the fresh ingredients and unique, flavor-forward dishes, frequently highlighting the sandwiches and pancakes as standout options. While the atmosphere is consistently described as inviting, some visitors note that the space can become quite loud and crowded during peak times, leading to concerns about noise levels and tight seating. Experiences with service and food consistency vary, with some guests reporting highly attentive and friendly staff alongside efficient service, while others have faced significant delays, inconsistency in meal quality, or challenges with cleanliness. Despite these mixed reports, it remains a popular neighborhood staple that many continue to frequent for its distinct aesthetic and welcoming appeal.
Our Go-To Breakfast Spot in Montreal!
We had breakfast here twice during our stay in Montreal, & it quickly became one of our favorite spots in the city. The food is fresh, tasty, & satisfying - perfect for starting the day right. Whether you're craving a classic New York-style bagel or something more filling, Mama N.Y.C. delivers.
What truly stood out was the warmth & kindness of the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, & made us feel right at home both times we visited.
Great atmosphere, great service, & great coffee - we'll definitely be back next time we're in town. Highly recommended!
We went on Easter Sunday so take this review with a grain of salt!
Overall, the food was tasty & they have a lot of options across drinks, coffee, pastries & brunch fare.
The food did take a long time to arrive, & they brought us the wrong drink (twice), but they were also apologetic, kind, & accommodating. Considering all this, I would still return!
I visited this charming rustic café & had a wonderful experience. The cozy, vintage-inspired ambiance made for a relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed a freshly brewed coffee that was rich & flavorful, paired with a delicious brunch that was both well-prepared & satisfying. The warm hospitality of the staff added to the overall experience. It's a great spot for a peaceful meal, & I'd definitely visit again!

I ordered one of the three recommended brunch options, ratatouille. It served hot with two slices of toast. It was like an omelet & tasted good, though nothing special. My friend ordered Papa's Breakfast, a bowl of veggies, tomato, bacon, & one egg.
The pastries, however, were delicious.
I would recommend this place for afternoon coffee but not for brunch.
On a positive note the decor & general vibe of the place is nice. The options & prices are reasonable. The food was a underwhelming but fine. The negative experience is primarily related to the service we received. Our server was polite, friendly & attentive… but 30 minutes before closing she started putting a lot of pressure on us to finish up & leave. We arrived around 2:45 pm & had just gotten our plates & champagne when the server asked us if we could move to another table so that she could… mop? I understand wanting to get your chores done so you can leave early but sweeping & pulling around dirty buckets of water while customers are eating is a little gross. I told her I didn't feel like moving (POV coffees, Champaign, juices, mimosas, waters, fresh plates of food etc) & I would like to just enjoy my meal until close. She continued returning to the table every few minutes to remind us we had to leave my 4 that we eventually were so uncomfortable that we just gave up on eating, chugged the mimosas & left. I wouldn't go back as I feel I paid a lot for a bad experience.
I mean the dreamy in me who loves the botanic style is to the moon! I enjoyed my brunch with my loved ones & the coffee was so tasty & delicious! Highly recommend.
I visited Maman for brunch, & it was an absolute delight. The aesthetics are unique & soothing, making you feel like you've stepped into a peaceful garden-a perfect escape from the city's hustle. The food was delicious, with unique flavors & recipes that stand out from the usual brunch fare. Don't expect your typical American breakfast here; the menu leans more towards a European vibe, offering a fresh & flavorful twist. Their coffees are just as impressive, especially the lattes, which are smooth, rich, & beautifully crafted. If you're looking for a cozy & charming spot with great food & coffee, this café is a must-visit!
