Makoto Sushi Restaurant is located in Chomedey on St-Martin Blvd. It is one of the most popular and authentic Japanese restaurants in Laval. You can choose from a variety of dining options such as a private rooms, sushi bar or main dining room. Makoto Sushi also offers catering for your events as well as take-out services.
Our experienced chefs create delicious dishes while using the freshest ingredients. We pride ourselves in offering an exciting and distinct voyage.
The elegantly decorated private rooms are located on the second floor and are ideal for social gatherings or business meetings. They are spacious enough to accommodate from 10 to 60 people.
Makoto Sushi earns praise for excellent service and high quality, fresh sushi, with diners noting light rice, standout lobster rolls, and sashimi that melts in the mouth. The staff are described as friendly and attentive, helping diners feel welcome and inclined to return. It is regarded by several reviewers as among the best on the north shore of Montreal, with frequent recommendations to try it. Some comments mention the prices being a bit high and that the all you can eat option is pricey. Eel lovers are pointed to this restaurant as the place to go, and the menu earns broad approval for freshness and flavor. One negative report mentions food that did not seem fresh and illness afterwards. Overall, Makoto Sushi is seen as a top choice for quality sushi and good service, with a few caveats about price and an isolated adverse experience.
Fresh Fish, but the All-You-Can-Eat Misses the Mark
This is a spot where the raw ingredients clearly outshine the all you can eat format. We arrived for date night with our own wine, eager to see if the hype was earned. While the freshness of the fish is undeniable-a rare win for many sushi spots-the All-You-Can-Eat experience left much to be desired.
The maki rolls lacked distinct flavours, with most tasting remarkably similar after just a few bites. It felt like a case of quantity over quality, with nothing'special' enough to stand out.
However, the high quality of the fish suggests that the A La Carte menu is likely where this kitchen truly shines.
While I wouldn't return for the buffet, I'm curious enough to come back for made-to-order dishes to see if they carry the spark that was missing this time around.

Great all you can eat & à la carte options. The wonton soup & the seafood broth soup were both delicious & so cozy. Sushis were very fresh & well made, every one of them I tried were top tier. I highly recommend trying the "Tropical" maki, it has tangerines in it & wow I still dream of it. You should give the mushroom hosomaki a try as well, they were both unexpectedly delicious combos, highly recommend!!
Even when the restaurant is not busy, they refuse to make sushi leaving out allergy ingredients like gluten, crab & shrimp unless you order a la carte for a premium price. The food is tasty (for the one of us allowed to eat) but the experience felt bad compared to other local sushi places that are happier to accommodate allergies.
Very nice authentic sushi... came here & was dissapointed. If you live near by I would definitely would come here for your sushi cravings . Everything was served & cooked fresh
