View more

Went on AYCE steak night & the food was good but nothing special but service was great. Sat at the bar & our bartender was provided a very nice experienceView more
So i take the time to make a reservation. I get there & they tell me that I can't have a table & I have to sit at the bar because im alone & it's a busy night. The place is EMPTY! There was maybe 6-7 people there. By the time that im done eating... still empty. Walked past the restaurant half an hour later, still empty. There was though a gentleman enjoying his meal at a table (not the bar)... alone. Nice to know that we all get the same treatment. **second star goes to the lady behind the bar who was nice to me.View more
Love the place, the music & the ambiance. Jonathan is a great manager, always accommodating. Laurence & Killian, at the bar, make you feel right at home.View more
We went for new year & our reservation was at 8:30 pm . Dinner started around 9:30 with set menu & we got the main course cold after midnight & they let too much people in after midnight & we could barely move or breathe. We ordered drinks & they were not able to serve drink , server asked us to go to the bar & order our drinks & they started to remove our chairs without serving the rest of meal which was cheese plate & dessert. finally around 1:30 they served dessert without plates or fork in a tray & we have to eat by hand. Before finishing our cheese plate, a server came to take the platter which was almost full . After midnight music was very bad , super crowded, very bad organized. Not recommended for events.View more
Staff was EXTREMELY SWEET & amazing, nothing but good things to say. However, a little disappointed at the fact that i reserved, in advance for 7 people online & when i got there i was told since i'm not ordering bottles to stand at the bar. I understand if that's the policy (completely get it) but I was just surprised because I thought when I was booking it would be because we'd get a table & just order some drinks. If that's the policy, I would suggest maybe putting that on your website as someone is booking! Because had I known me & 7 of my friends would be just standing at a bar, I wouldn't have came. The vibe was nice though, & again, staff was super lovely!
Maison St-Paul was a great experience for our group. We had a reservation for 14, 10pm. We arrived right on time but since previous customers were just leaving, we were able to wait at the bar. Not a problem. Then they had an army or people setting our table quickly. We end up being 16. No problem, they accommodated us. We had to order quickly because the kitchen was closing soon. Was good since we were hungry. & when realized 1 person did not order, se we added the order after kitchen was closed, not a problem again. We felt they did everything they could to accommodate us & we never felt any stress throughout the night. Food was great.View more

Food was great.
Not a restaurant - a wanna be club for tragically pretentious people - without reason based on where they are. Reservation was at 9pm - arrived early to have some drinks at the bar before dinner (as we have never been to the place after a month in Montreal). We're told our reservations were seating us at the bar! WHAT!? Must be a joke - as I laughed at the hostess, in a basically completely empty place - how is a reservation even remotely made for a bar seat - without ever even asking the guest. A bar is a walk in location - not a reservation spot! Upon my clear challenge she did zero - whole front staff was arrogantly pretentious in tragic clothes! Drop the attitude or look far better!
I basically wanted to just turn & walk out based on how pathetic the entire first 5 minutes was. But as it was date night my husband just said "lets try & see it through". Drinks were tolerable, but cocktail menu was very lacking - especially for seating someone there for a reservation. The ‘special" cocktail involved Red Bull!! Seriously?! Is this a college bar? A whole Red Bull refrigerator high in the bar? warning sign right there for sure!
Tuna tartare was very good - the filet was poor, have had far better around the world in far better venues for the price.I don't think salt exists in the kitchen at all. Nothing was properly seasoned at all. Nor did the bar staff follow up. They were more concerned with flirting & doing shots with patrons than actually doing proper service.
I would give zero stars if possible here. Seriously was a massive disappointment for what we thought would be good. Went home & just ordered a pizza to make up for the crappy experience.
Place is a club atmosphere & NOT a restaurant at all. I do not recommend this place at all.
The upbeat music was pleasantly loud & modernly rhythmical, the crowd & the staff were happy & laughing. Everyone was in the greatest of vibe & we can feel that the place itself was pleased to celebrate the special event with soap bubbles flying everywhere at the main entrance in the heart of Old Montreal.
After an evening filled with bubblies, food & laughter, La Champagnerie definitely deserved to be a hot spot in Montreal’s restaurant-bar scene. Read more on http://theforbiddenmeal.com/2015/06/02/la-champagnerie-two-year-anniversary-in-a-bubbly-way
