About

Maison Sai Yan presents a comprehensive menu that bridges traditional Szechuan heat with the delicate, fresh profiles characteristic of authentic Vietnamese cooking. Diners navigate a diverse selection of plates ranging from numbing, spice-forward peppercorn dishes to aromatic herb-infused broths. The kitchen emphasizes bold, layered flavor profiles that define the intersection of these two distinct East Asian culinary traditions. Each serving focuses on precise execution, utilizing traditional techniques to ensure that texture and spice levels remain balanced throughout the meal. The dining room provides a straightforward environment centered on accessibility and culinary exploration. Patrons encounter a reliable rotation of classic noodle soups, stir-fried proteins, and savory vegetable compositions designed for consistent results. This establishment functions as a primary destination for those seeking a broad spectrum of regional Asian flavors within one unified menu structure.

Review Summary

Maison Sai Yan is widely regarded as a hidden gem that offers authentic, flavorful Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine. Diners frequently praise the freshness of the seafood and the creativity of the dishes, often highlighting specific favorites like the sizzling oysters and comforting traditional recipes. While the establishment is noted for its intimate, unpretentious atmosphere and friendly service, opinions regarding the value are mixed as some patrons feel the prices have increased significantly relative to portion sizes. Despite the modest decor and varying views on costs, the restaurant remains a popular destination for those seeking reliable, tasty, and high-quality meals on the South Shore, with many guests expressing a strong desire to return.

Good food, decent service but it's on the pricier side. You compare the price at the menu section to their price 2 years ago & they have made really big jump in prices but I am not sure if they have mde big jumps in quality & quantity of the food.

I will say it again, it's good Chinese meal, but a plate of fried rice is 18-25$ plus tax? A steamed oyster (picture attached) is 12$!

On the plus side, they have a very wide selection of dishes & fresh seafood.

Just had dinner there with my husband & the waitress recommended the most delicious sizzling oysters in our life! The seafood was exceptionally fresh & service made me feel like I'm at home. Eggplant was very clean & healthy. Red bean soup for dessert made just like my mom. Cantonese person here. Highly recommend!

Hidden gem for Chinese food. The food is fresh & prepared very well. It is best to eat in than take out.

The waitress seemed to not understand our request to switch one ingredient with another & tried to push the crab very hard. The miscommunication didn't affect our time there: the food is good & fresh.
