August 2026: For a second time, we tried this restaurant after a long day at the Zoo. Seemed easy since we were staying at the attached hotel. The decor was dated with peeling tables & plastic greenery hanging from the ceilings. We both had the Beef & Broccoli meal. The first course was a Won Ton soup. It was bland but the carrots & green onions were still crunchy. Adding soya sauce did little to enhance the flavour but it was palatable. This was followed up with two tiny & skinny spring rolls & a dipping sauce trying to pretend it was plum sauce. It was lemony, a bit plum & some other flavour I couldn't put my finger on. The couple seated nearby made the same negative face when they tried it. The beef dish comes with chicken fried rice which was pasty & sticky & probably reheated one too many times. It was not as it should have been. Despite adding soya sauce, it was unpleasant. The beef was chewy & lacked flavour, the broccoli was a bit undercooked (way too much crunch!) & the carrots were ok. The meal included dessert which was a tiny sad little square of what looked like chocolate cake but it was a flavour that we couldn't decipher & the texture was again unpleasant. The plate included a fortune cookie & a Chinese tea - best part of the whole meal. Each meal was $24.00 plus taxes. With all the restaurants nearby, that $48.00 could have been better spent elsewhere.
As we were staying at the Hotel Principal & this restaurant is part of it, we decided to leave the car parked & have Chinese food for dinner. We ordered selection #5 for two people. It came with 4 small spring rolls, fried wonton, breaded chicken with lemon sauce, battered shrimp, General Tao chicken, wonton soup, mixed vegetables. There was plenty for two people & thankfully our room has a fridge & a microwave so we could enjoy the leftovers the next day. The food was your typical Chinese food taste. The General Tao chicken was not spicy as I'm accustomed to. The spring rolls had a ginger plum sauce. The shrimp came with a somewhat Thai sauce. The chicken for the lemon chicken seemed to be two breasts battered & cut into manageable pieces. It's what I call'safe' food to simply enjoy & fill the tummies. The cost before taxes for the meal for two was $40.00 so quite economical. We only had water so no further to add to the tab. Food was quickly served & service was attentive. It's a homey decor place with tables & booths. For the price & selection of food, it's good as a meal.
A quiet restaurant with friendly & efficient service. The quality of the food was good & the quantity for a dinner for two meant we had lunch for tomorrow. We had a 10% discount because we stayed in the same hotel.
The food is so hard to eat, it takes too long to serve the good & the employees are not kind. I will not comeback here 1:30mins waiting for only 3 types of food
Décevant. Le poulet général tao ne goûte rien. En fait, j'ai l'impression qu'il a été cuit dans la vieille huile de friture. Je ne le recommande pas du tout.
I am a Chinese & this is the worst Chinese food that I ever see in Quebec before I went to this restaurant I saw a lot of reviews online which mentioned the cigarette & the wonton soup, but I didn't believe that. When the wonton soup was served, it was planned & tasteless. Obviously they used the frozen one but even the frozen one they use the worst one & we order general town chicken thinking it is a special of their restaurant & it must be good right but the outside of the chicken is not crispy which it is supposed to be, & we also ordered the stirfry beef & chicken, but the beef taste like jerky & I don't know why usually fresh beer will not taste like jerky, & when the kitchen door was open, it smell like cigarettes, which is very horrible & I don't know how they passed hygiene test from the government. It is hard to find a constant waiter & I will have to look forward one which is a little bit ridiculous for a restaurant. I mean they don't have QR code on the table for ordering ourselves so they should at least have a waiter right if they don't have a waiter, they should set up the auto automatic order. & the song list they are playing is very old-fashioned. We're Chinese song that's not suitable for the restaurant. If they are using the hit songs from 4030 years old, which we don't listen to it in the restaurant if they want to use a good song list, they should use a lot of instrument. Is that find any instrument playlist on Spotify & it will be better than this. I am very surprised that they have higher than 3.0 score, which is the same as the McDonald's in my opinion McDonald's is way better than this restaurant. I know you want to mimic Chinese food, but please do some research before actually implementing.
