Review Summary

Maiko Sushi emerges as a standout sushi destination with consistently fresh fish, beautiful presentation, and a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. Guests praise the chef's artistry and a range of memorable creations, with signature rolls and the omakase earning top marks for flavor and craft. The service is described as warm, professional, and attentive, contributing to a dining experience that feels special even when the restaurant is busy. Reservations are often advised to secure a table, as the place tends to fill up, and the ambiance with high ceilings and elegant decor enhances the meal. While a few notes mention occasional long waits, louder music, and a higher price point, the overall impression of Maiko Sushi is a premier sushi experience with reliable quality, generous portions, and consistent excellence that keeps diners returning.

Great food the only thing is I find the sushi rolls cut in to big a pieces. Making very hard to eat . Just cutting one more piece in the roll would make it less messy & more elegant to eat with chopsticks. Service was slow. We were a group of 14 & our waiter tried his best but had other tables. Waited over an hour for sushi . We had appetizers & all some had ordered sushi for appetizer & teriyaki steak for main meal. Appetizers came on time but for those who ordered the steak their sushi came at the same time. Too much food all at once.

Best sushi in the West Island by far. My only complaint, & the reason why I didn't rate it 5 stars, is the lighting in the restaurant at lunchtime. The contrast between sunlight streaming in & darkness if the place makes it impossible to see people seated across from you when you face windows. Some roll-up sun shades on wi Dow's would fix the problem.

I have been going to Maiko for years -- it's been my favorite Sushi restaurant. However, last night was disappointing : the server messed up my order, the rice in the rolls was over-cooked, & my "Paradis vegetarian" rolls did not have sweet potatoes like usual, are were stuff with carrots... Hopefully, this was an anomaly things will be back to normal next time!

Sadly disappointed. Been going to Maiko on & off for years & this time both my husband & I said we wouldn't go back for dinner & would rather try somewhere else. The sashimis were fantastic but the maki rolls were mostly bland.

Apart form the Bonzai & l'Enfer rolls, which were to perfection, the other 4 were overly stuffed with rice & heavy on the tempura. The fish was more of an afterthought as we could barely taste or see it. Even the vegetarian roll with sweet potato had only small strips of potato in it.

For the price we paid ($105 plus wine) we didn't feel we got what we had paid for. The quality of the fish was great but the quantity in the makis was disappointing.

ALSO, I had made our reservation 2 weeks in advance & called the day of to request a table in the front of the restaurant (which I was told yes to) but when we arrived they were full so they put us in the back area of the restaurant by the hallway leading to the washrooms & kitchen!

All in all not the best experience at Maiko but the ambience is impressive & our waiter was nice too.

Pretty good food however I find the sushi rolls way too big. It was almost impossible to put one in your mouth. Also the popcorn shrimp it was not at all kids friendly as we were told. It was way too spicy for a kid. & when it comes to the prices I must say it was pretty expensive for what it was offered. The place was nice & clean though however I don't think we will return to this place.

Not as good as last time, very stingy on fish in dishes especially Spicy Tuna roll where is the "tuna" If this is the new style at Maiko we will go elsewhere. Flavors, presentation, & atmosphere is always great, just don't start skimping on customers you will lose us & many others....Thank you.

Beautiful surroundings, nicely decorated for the holidays. Food well prepared & tasty. A bit disappointed with the Maiko assortment Sushi, Sashimi & Maki plate. Found the assortment a bit boring, though very good. Also found the rolls to be a bit large in circumference: more than a comfortable mouthful.
Other than that a very pleasant evening.

Sashimi is incredible, but the maki rolls have a lot of rice, which was a bit hard.
