Maïko Sushi in Dollard-des-Ormeaux specializes in various sushi, it also offers salmon, calamari, filet mignon, chicken, Japanese soups with an egg base, and seaweed salad to name a few. Seated in a dining room emphasising blue tones and glass-encased lighting, novices and amateurs alike will love the delicacies of Maiki Sushi's oriental cuisine. Maïko Sushi's sushi bar is a big hit with diners who are partial to those multicoloured rolls. Small private rooms featuring traditional tatami mats, can also be reserved by groups of 6 to 10.
Maiko Sushi emerges as a standout sushi destination with consistently fresh fish, beautiful presentation, and a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. Guests praise the chef's artistry and a range of memorable creations, with signature rolls and the omakase earning top marks for flavor and craft. The service is described as warm, professional, and attentive, contributing to a dining experience that feels special even when the restaurant is busy. Reservations are often advised to secure a table, as the place tends to fill up, and the ambiance with high ceilings and elegant decor enhances the meal. While a few notes mention occasional long waits, louder music, and a higher price point, the overall impression of Maiko Sushi is a premier sushi experience with reliable quality, generous portions, and consistent excellence that keeps diners returning.
Maiko is my favorite restaurant for very good reason. Hygiene, quality, ambiance, bathrooms, decor, professionalism, taste, presentation, speed, price, options are the most important & what makes a successful restaurant. All 5/5! Never disappoints!
Good: attentive waiters.
Bad: Too attentive. He came by when we were halfway through our meal to ask if we wanted the rest to go. We weren't done yet.
Good: nice decor.
Bad: Blaring dance music not appropriate for the "atmosphere". Lights are so dim, people were using their cell phones to see the sushi-checklist. Speaking of cell phones, make sure to bring yours - the menu (& wine list) are only available with a barcode.
Good: wine was good.
Bad: since we couldn't see the menu, we picked it out of the wall of wine bottles next to us. it cost 3 times the price we would have paid at the SAQ. Most restaurant wines are only double the price.
good: Degustation menu for 2 was a huge plate. The fresh fish - about one tenth of the plate - was sublime.
Bad: There was no need for Miso Soup to start - but it was tasty. The maki (9/10ths of the meal) had the fish mixed with some kind of creamy thing, mayo or something. Both the hot & cold maki. We felt it took away from the 'fresh' taste one would expect of this type of meal. We ordered Spicy Mayo - it was missing the "spicy" part.
Overall a bit disappointing.

Clean, nicely decorated. A thorough sanitizing of tables between customers, All employees wearing masks properly at all times & sanitizing regularly. I felt it was a safe environment. Excellent food, beautifully presented. Although a bit noisy. Our host placed us in a alcove which was a bit quieter, but if you have someone with a hearing impairment, it will be challenging for them. Overall great experience. Book in advance!
My friend & I went for a weekday lunch. The restaurant is spacious, very nicely decorated & follows every protocol so you enjoy your meal & feel very safe. The menu is extensive; offers many items for non-sushi lovers as well as vegans. Our food was beautifully presented, tasted delicious & was reasonably priced. The service was exceptional; our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable & helpful. We enjoyed a wonderful meal & a long chat without ever feeling rushed. I recommend you make reservations; it is a very popular restaurant!
The two of us took the lunchtime menu of assorted sushi. The soup was excellent. The salad scrumptious. The Sushie was, as usual, melting in your mouth. All of this is set in a wonderfully decorated restaurant. There is no better on the West Island.
One of the best family restaurant in the West Island. It has great, consistently good food, amazing decor, stylish ambiance & just fun. We come here at least a half-dozen times a year.
Food was excellent & beautifully presented, but the wine prices were ridiculously sky high & for that reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5.
Nice decor but music was way too loud, causing people to speak louder & louder. Service was a little slow but considering it was a full house, it was understandable. I would definitely go again but not order any wine.
