Un projet de l'équipe derrière la Pizzeria Magpie au feu de bois, Magpie Magique s'éloigne entièrement de ce concept avec une entrée de style speakeasy à lumière rouge qui mène à un endroit chic. Ce bar pseudo-caché se spécialise dans les cocktails classiques complétés par un menu de plats à partager composé de mezze, de fruits de mer grillés en brochettes et de pizzas provenant de l'avant. Il offre une expérience anonyme, sophistiquée et unique qui inclura de la musique live et d'autres performances. Il va sans dire que vous pouvez y manger un morceau tard le soir, accompagné d'une bonne boisson forte.

Magnifique ambiance pour ce « soft opening», j'ai adoré. Le décor est très sympa. Je recommande en particulier le cocktail Skittle Martini & le tartare de saumon. Tout le monde était sur le pont pour une première soirée inoubliable.
Excellent service & food, plus a great selection of mocktails! The atmosphere was great. The music was at just the right volume. The decor was unique & quite relaxing--it felt like we were being wrapped up in soft red silk sheets. Our servers were extremely attentive & friendly. Did I mention how great the food was? We will definitely be going back!

Très beau bar caché ! Une belle surprise, la décoration est superbe & intimiste. Les pizzas étaient vraiment délicieuses & belle proposition de cocktail/ mocktail. C'est pour sûr, un superbe endroit pour un date ou un événement spécial.
I love their decorations! As soon as step in, you feel like wow. Velvet type of texture all over makes me feel like I am visiting witches hous! Cocktail was good & fresh roasted nuts was nice. People seems enjoying pizza there. Don't miss happy hours!
Absolutely had such a lovely experience here from the service, to the ambiance & to the food & drinks. This was my first time ever visiting Montreal & my mom & I were looking for a cool spot for some late night drinks & chats & this was perfect. This is a Speakeasy Bar with nice dim-lighting, burlesque-style decor, soft jazz music in the background that isn't too loud where you can actually hear each other speak! I ordered the Late Night Encounter drink which was like a Espresso Martini but, it wasn't too strong or bitter at all - it was very smooth with the perfect amount of sweetness. Then, I ordered their No Bias drink which was refreshing & very tasty. My mom & I got the Mirza Ghassemi & Noix Roties - both perfect little snacks to enjoy with your drinks & then we got their Burrata pizza to share which was SO DELICIOUS. I definitely will come back when I return to Montreal again!

Très bonne expérience. Nous sommes venus entre amis (6) & nous avons adoré l'expérience. Les cocktails sont délicieux, les classiques comme les spéciaux sont très bien réalisés. Les prix sont corrects & nous avons particulièrement aimé un détail : le pourcentage d'alcool dans chaque cocktail est affiché sur la carte. Le service est excellent, aucune faute ou oubli, juste parfait. Pour ce qui est de la nourriture nous n'avons goûté qu'aux pizzas & elles étaient excellentes. Les portions sont plus que correct pour le prix que nous avons payé. Nous avons vraiment apprécié qu'il y ai plusieurs choix de pizzas dont un végétarien & qu'on puisse personnaliser sa pizza si il y a un ingrédient qu'on n'aime pas. La décoration & l'ambiance étaient parfaites. Peut aussi bien convenir à un date en amoureux qu'à une soirée entre amis. Je recommande fortement.

We enjoyed Dimitri's attention & service the other night, made our night so enjoyable ! The place is hidden behind the door & you walk a narrow hall to a nicely decorated room. The menu is small (for snacking mainly) but the cocktail menu was intriguing & innovative. We both enjoyed our drinks ! This place is great for date night or a 5@7 with friends or coworkers.
The intimate, laid-back atmosphere, burlesque-style décor, soft jazzy music, & excellent, reasonably priced cocktail menu make it the perfect setting for a date night. We ordered several cocktails & a mocktail, all of which were delicious & expertly prepared. They also serve a variety of wines & beers. If you happen to feel a little peckish, they've got you covered with a food menu to enjoy with their extensive list of beverages. Classic bar munchies like olives, nuts, & popcorn, as well as some incredible dips of either goat cheese, eggplant, or hummus. We especially enjoyed the goat cheese dip. They also offer larger dishes like pizza, a sandwich, & beef tartare. With a great central location & wonderful service, we will most definitely return on an actual date to enjoy this lovely speakeasy.
Nice cocktails in a cool atmosphere. In this case, Magpie probably refers to the disorganized mishmash of unrelated decorations spread over the place, as the word could be defined as "a person who collects things, especially things of little use or value". But it's a fun speakeasy experience, with a great vibe & a cool secret entrance on Gilford. Unfortunately, they seemed understaffed that night & so the service was slow, but friendly. The Gins'N Roses cocktail was the nicest I've tried there so far. Apparently, at happy hour the cocktails are only $10, the pizza is $17, & they sometimes have live music.
Friendly, efficient service. Fun decor, groovy playlist. I enjoyed the End of discussion, it was kind of like a Mezcal Aviation. The coffee one was kind of like an espresso martini, but stronger.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting this place & I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting & stylish, with a perfect blend of modern chic & cozy comfort. The dim lighting, plush seating, & tasteful decor set the stage for a fantastic evening. The cocktail menu is nothing short of impressive. Each drink is crafted with precision & creativity, showcasing a balance of classic favorites & innovative concoctions. What truly sets this bar apart is its incredible selection of appetizers too.
Absolutely great place with great staff. Friendly, atmospheric, good music, good drinks, what can you ask for more? We had a blast & I only wish we had more time to come back! The red decoration gives a classy vibe & there is ample space to feel comfortable. ❤️

Definitely a hidden gem & a must try in the Plateau! The food was just as tasty as the drinks. The decor & atmosphere of the speakeasy was so much fun & also so well thought out. Dimitri & Villiam from the staff team were super welcoming. Overall, this place gets a 10/10 across the board for their delicious menu, fun concept & amazing staff. We'll for sure come back!
Très belle place, bien décorée, c'est pour ça que c'est triste que c'est ruiné par la musique. Un cover d'anaconda de nicki minaj en country ? Très perturbant.
This is a gem of a place (but I have a huge soft spot for speakeasy's). The entrance to Magpie says is all...a non-descript steel fire door on Gilford (although you can access it via St. Denis) with a scripted not "Livraison" painted on it & a red light over time...it literally screams "SPEAKEASY". Inside the retro red-light turn of the century décor is a relaxed environment where you go to chill with friends enjoying cocktails & small tapas style dishes. The ambiance is definitely in keeping with the theme. Like all speakeasy's in town, then offer a cocktail menu supported by additional inspirations. Normally I choose a Negroni but on the night of our visit they also offered a Green Negroni (using absinthe in some way). They also offer mocktails. While we didn't have an eats we did see a table adjacent order Hummus & Naan (the positive murmurs were audible). Definitely worth a visit just for the fun of it. Enjoy!
