If you're the kind of person who likes playing pool, great drinks and great food for cheap Mad Hatters is where you should go. It’s located at the center of Crescent Street, but curtained off from St. Catherine. Even though the décor is rustic, the vibe here is still relaxed (at least until the late hours, when a DJ often appears and things become more clubby).
Mad Hatter Pub offers a lively, budget friendly dive bar vibe with games like pool, billiards, ping pong and Jenga and a wide variety of affordable drinks. The scene is busy on weekends and karaoke on Thursdays is a popular draw. The place has lots of seating and a casual social atmosphere, but cleanliness and odors are mentioned in some visits and there are occasional safety or crowding concerns. Service can be friendly and efficient at times, though experiences with staff are mixed. No food is served, and the overall vibe ranges from energetic and fun to slightly gritty depending on the night.
C'est rare que je laisse des avis, mais là. Hier soir, c'était pratiquement impossible de se faire servir au bar. Les barmaids étaient vraiment lents & semblaient complètement désintéressées, ils nous regardaient sans venir prendre les commandes. Je n'étais clairement pas la seule, plusieurs personnes attendaient avec leur carte en main sans se faire servir. Après 45 minutes à se faire ignorer, moi & mes amies avons décidé de partir. Franchement décevant, surtout qu'il n'y avait même pas tant de monde
Honnêtement je ne sais pas ce qui s'est passé avec cette place-là car c'était bien avant mais là c'est rendu d'une saleté extrême avec des tables dégueulasses & un plancher tellement gommant qu'on dirait qu'il y a de la colle partout tellement c'est gênant. Il n'y a plus de service aux tables & quand je suis allé payer au bar avec le 15% de tip plus les taxes le barman m'a relancé avec le montant total en s'attendant à recevoir encore plus de pourboire ce qui est insultant vu le maudit mauvais service car il faut attendre qu'il finisse de jaser tranquillement avec des filles au comptoir avant de daigner nous servir un pichet sale dans des verres en plastique. C'est franchement dégueu de voir un spot aussi mal entretenu & je ne recommande plus du tout l'endroit.
Saige is the best she always fast & the drink never mistaken, I never had to check I just had my drinks. Hands down to her, I wish when I visit next time & she's still here
Great spot, ask for raven! So many specials , very busy bar on weekends, they've got pool & a couple other games which are nice, people aren't competitive & just wanna have a good time!
We entered & waited extremely long to be served & the smell was so awful me & my friend decided to just leave. Other friends have also told me this place has made them feel unsafe at times. There is always some dude trying to make a pass at you here

Excellent service, bar tender was chill. Drinks are reasonable priced with large variety. Has 3 pool tables, & lots of seating. No food served. No heating even in January, so had to stay in a hat. Cool spot though
This bar is AMAZING! We went in for a few drinks. Ended up meeting the owner who was bartending, talking about the bar life. Met some young kids who ended up adopting us. Thanks for the great time Mad Hatter!!!
Disappointed & disrespected
I came here expecting a good night out, but instead got served a pitcher that tasted like plain water. I went to the barman to mention it, thinking maybe there was a mistake, but he literally laughed at me & acted like I was crazy. Super unprofessional & disrespectful. Whether the drink was watered down or just made wrong, the attitude was the worst part. I usually have no problem when I go to mad hatter but this time , it was so crowded & how the barman replied to me was so unprofessional & mean. Also the bar smelled like puke & piss, & everything was sticky - the floor, the tables, even the chairs. It honestly felt dirty & unhygienic. Between the gross environment & the rude service, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Definitely not worth your time or money.
Wasn't bad but wasn't the cleanest place either. Came & left after 15 minutes as there was a strange smell & overall just didn't look like a place I'd want to eat. The service was great & I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy coming for some pool & a drink! Just an average bar overall in my opinion
Mad Hatter's is still one of the best dive bar in town, if you are looking to feel the vibe of the city get a few drinks, shooters & speak with the locals, this is one of the perfect place & it has been for more than 30 years (even though it move quite a few times, it remained its authenticity & charm).
I would think twice if you want to bring a first date here, but I would personally do it, I just love dive bars.
