Avis pour Ma Mère en Feu

Ma Mère en Feu is a burger joint located inside of a record store/cafe. I found myself confused upon entry as did every other customer I saw enter but you quickly find your bearings. The menu was well curated & minimalist, with a large selection of craft beer/cider & wine. I ordered the Chris de Burger.
The burger was well balanced. Pickles taste as if they're made in house. Brioche bun was nicely toasted & not too sweet. Beef was juicy & well seasoned just as I like, there was a unique smoky flavor as well. House sauce was classic'burger sauce' recipe but was generously applied to both buns & spread all the way out to the corners.
The sides were well thought out & a refreshing change from fries. What looked like a classic non-creamy coleslaw surprised me with mustard seeds & chopped mint among cabbage, red onion & carrot. Bright citrus notes played with the mustard & brought a great acidity. Potato cakes were good but a bit dry. I got the impression they had been recently reheated, hopefully not in a microwave. Sour cream & green onion servings were generous though.
I decided to sit in the record store portion of the venue as the burger side only had one large table & a couple bar seats in front of the kitchen. Latin r&b played on a beefy sound system as employees flipped through records right next to me. Was a very enjoyable ambiance as a solo diner.
I would recommend Ma Mère en Feu to those looking for an unconventional, elevated burger experience. Could be a great date spot if you're a music enjoyer.
Si tu veux te posé pour étudiez ou travailler un peux en mangeant de la bonne bouffe c'est la place ,le burger est malade , ça vien avec deux super bon accompagnement , le chef c'est un top , je recommande à 100% 🔥
The burger was delicious, & the coleslaw & mashed potatoes were just as good. Gin & tonics for $8? Absolutely. The place has that real OG Montreal vibe-one of the last hidden gems on this side of town. But the highlight was definitely the service. Daniel was so cool & friendly. He made us feel like we were hanging out in his living room while he cooked for us. Such a great spot, with even better people!
Je travail sur la route je passais par là uniquement pour pisser, j'ai pas pu m'empêcher d'arrêter manger. Le chef est très sympatique & la bouffe… wow. J'pense pas trouver de meilleurs hamburgers nul part ailleurs. 11/10 🫶
