Stopped by during the day to see the menu & inquired about reservation. Advised the chef just arrived & menu is not ready yet. Liked the fact that chef is in charge of me he based on available ingredients of the day. Small & cozy place. Reservation was made for 6 PM with our commitment to leave by 8:30 PM. Seasonally available food was fresh Hence, delicious. Fried calamari was heavenly light & crispy. Fresh figs filled with cheese & wrapped in spam was little salty but coupled with glass of red wine was perfect. Grilled Veal chop with polenta & spinach was juicy & cooked to perfection. Halibut, shrimp combined with fresh grilled asparagus, peppers, zucchini, eggplant & anise was my favorite special of the day. Fish was just grill enough to be moist & delicious. Shrimp was crispy yet not dry. Dessert options sounded good but diet killed the pleasure 😔. Oh well next time
The appetizers were fine. However, there was an inordinate amount of time between the appetizer & the Entree. We both ordered the 2 fish combo of Halibut & Shrimp. For $56 each I don't expect lukewarm food when it finally arrived. Food always tastes better hot. My wife ate hers & I sent mine back. When it arrived for the 2nd time it wasn't much better. Plus the Halibut was overcooked & dry. No apologies. When I left the waiter said, "What do you want me to do"? I expect a more concerned response since he was supposed to be making me the guest feel appreciated. In retrospect, we probably should have ordered pasta, since we could see those dishes steaming as they went by our table. However, given that the restaurant didn't have a huge menu which is good. All the dishes should be good. Poor food & service really is not acceptable. All the more disappointing since we had been looking forward to it. My brother who had his office Christmas party there was very positive about the restaurant. All in all. It is unlikely that we would return given both the poor meal & the indifference of the staff. Le rapport qualité prix est mauvais. Oui tout était correct voir bien mais cela reste très chère pour ce que l'on a dans l'assiette. Pas de réel reproche à part le prix. 135$ pourboires inclus, sans avoir fais d'excès, c'est quand même un peu beaucoup. Ce restaurant ne vaut pas le coût, au premier sens du terme. Un peu déçu même si j'ai passé un plutôt bon moment.
Tucked away on a side street in Little Italy, Lucca is easily the best Italian restaurant in Montreal! Lovely atmosphere, great service & the food is divine. Try the fillet mignon pasta!
