Michael & the rest of the team made our family NYE dinner really special & fun! The service was spectacular & the food was excellent, especially the cassoulet & boeuf bourguignon. Will definitely be back!
Visited on Christmas while traveling. The staff was very friendly, but seemed stretched a bit thin. All of the food we had was great, it just took a while to get it. The main hostess/owner? Apologized several times for long waits on things, & made our cocktails extra strong to make up for it 😂 The only real complaint was that the bread didn't come with the soups, we had to ask for it & had finished our soup by the time it arrived.View more
What a pleasant experience. The service was attentive & friendly, the food delicious. Apparently they're a little quieter in the winter because of their location in Prince Arthur, but they're well worth remembering. We will be back!
Ordered beef tartare & duck confit, one of the best duck confit I ever had. The seasonal soup was butternuts squash soup very tasty!View more
A Classical French Bistro tucked inside of Montreal. Been there a few times since 2014. Reminds me of Bordeaux, & ParisView more
My wife & I ate at Les Deux Gamins for a special occasion. The waitress & owner took a special interest in us with conversation but were not intrusive at all. The entrees & meals were really excellent. Overall, a great experience. One critical comment. The French onion soup was delicious but it was very heavy on the cheese (hard to cut into) & their was very little broth. The broth was really sensational but most of it was soaked up in the bread. I would suggest that they go lighter on the cheese & provide more of the onion broth.
We came as a group, so it may be different from 2-4ppl experience. The menu has great variety & reasonable pricing. The onion soup is definitely one of the best I have had in Mtl. We share some appetizers & they were all delicious. My main course was Duck confit & it is also one of the best I have, the skin is crispy, so good! The common challenge nowadays is short staff, so we were not given bread, some drinks came later because waitress forgot, I heard some of my friends who ordered hanger steak, it was cold. There was also some confusion over billing but resolved after. Also maybe because the building is older, there was a draft of cold air in the restaurant, so dress warm is my suggestion. I think they tried their best for a group.View more
The welcome & service was absolutely terrific. The waitress was super friendly & warm. The waiter gave us an excellent wine selection & was very helpful. Unfortunately the main courses were practically stone cold & took some time to arrive. It tasted ok but would probably have been better hot.View more
Excellent food served by welcoming & well-informed staff. It's a great find!
I had a wonderful dinner. The place was quiet & I got to spend a while talking with one of the owners. I definitely recommend this place.View more
There are a number of my things that surprised & disappointed our party of four at Les Deux Gamins. The music playing in the restaurant all evening was 1990s & 2000s English language pop songs. We had really hoped for nice French music, maybe Edith Piaf. We were disappointed that the serviettes were paper & not linen. We ordered a bottle of white wine & we had to ask for an ice bucket after the waiter left the bottle on the table. It was an a surprisingly long wait between the appetizers & the main course - & then they brought out 2 meals, & we waited about 5 minutes for the remaining 2 meals to come out. The meals were no piping hot at all - perhaps because they sat too long waiting to be brought to the table, added to the fact that the plates had not been preheated. When the food came out, the plates were cold, & the food was only just warm. Two of our party ordered the duck confit dish. While the duck tasted ok, it was on a bed of ‘creamy asian style coleslaw', essentially shredded beets. It was a terrible match. The ‘coleslaw' totally overpowered the taste of the meat. They would be much better off to serve it over a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. The best part of the evening was the young female waiter from France - she was gracious, sophisticated, with just the right level of interaction with dining guests. She was exceptional, but she was not our waitress unfortunately. She only assisted with seating us & collecting our plates. All in all, we were unfortunately very disappointed. For the cost of the evening, we expected much more.
We visited Montréal the week of Thanksgiving. My wife's birthday was that particular day & we went to have dinner at Les Deux Gamins restaurant.
Great experience & delicious Thanksgiving menu.
The butternut squash crème soup was a star ... with toasted pumpkin seeds at the perfect temperature.
Turkey's breast rolled with sausage center & beets créame sauce was also superb.
We had a wonderful evening.
