Les Canailles is a lovely French bistro located in the new HOMA, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve area, which is developing at a fast pace. This restaurant, where you can bring your own wine has put in place a popular new concept of open kitchen on the dining room. The super friendly service and the excellent French cuisine are much appreciated by the clientele. The menu is amazingly interesting and makes it difficult to choose. There is a great choice of fresh fishes and seafood. Recently opened by the same experienced and well-known team of the restaurants: Monsieur B, O Thym, Les Héritiers and L'Emporte-Pièce, this new restaurant has easily made its place in the area. My husband & I went here for his birthday & it was the perfect way to celebrate! He had the pork cheek which melted in your mouth & I enjoyed the duck (I usually don't like duck but wanted to give it another try!) & now I can say I officially love duck! Thank you for a memorable night. We will be back.
Habituellement, nous passons de belles soirées chez Les Canailles. Nous sommes retournés un vendredi soir, une soirée où il y avait peu de monde. Bien que le service était bon, plusieurs autres aspects ont donné une mauvaise expérience à cette soirée. Le tartare de boeuf était vraiment trop assaisonné en acidité. Il y avait un fort goût de vinaigre & de moutarde qui restait en bouche. Malgré avoir changé le plat, le goût était tout aussi décevant. Enfin, l'odeur dans les toilettes était vraiment désagréable. Je retenais ma respiration pour de pas sentir l'odeur d'humidité & de vielles guenilles. Il faut croire que l'expérience à ce resto n'est jamais égal d'un fois à l'autre & que ce n'est pas une valeur sûr.
Le repas était délectable, très bon service, mais les lumières étaient trop illuminées même si nous avions demandé de tamiser & il y avait des toiles d'araignées sur le mur.
Food was great, server was friendly & professional. I do want to mention it's a bring your wine kind of restaurant, so it's not very friendly for solo eaters. Also it allows bigger groups of people so it could get noisy. If you are looking for a date spot & able to chat nicely, I wouldn't recommend here but a good spot for casual eating. - they change their menu frequently so be sure to check when the photos were taken.
Le bruit est d'une intensité incroyable ! Coté nourriture, les frites sont excellentes, le steack de macreuse correct, par contre le tartare de boeuf est coupé trop grossièrement & l'assaisonnement est fade, même si je l'ai demandé relevé. Mais le serveur, se doutant qu'il n'était pas à mon goût, m'a apporté tabasco & moutarde. Trop cher pour ce qu'on offre.
Belle découverte. Accueil simple & sympathique. Nous apprécions beaucoup le concept "Apportez votre vin". Carte du menu variée. La formule table d'hôte est un excellent rapport qualité-prix. Les assiettes sont soignées & les saveurs sont aux rendez-vous. Mention spéciale, pour les gnocchis au saumon qui étaient tout simplement délicieux. La terrasse, quand le temps le permet, est un véritable plus. Établissement avec une ambiance décontractée parfait pour un dîner entre amis ou en amoureux... Nous avons aimé notre expérience culinaire.
We had a fantastic dinner at Les Canailles & absolutely loved it! The place has a simple, cozy vibe that made us feel right at home from the start. The menu is where it really shines, packed with creative takes on French classics. This spot might look unassuming, but the food is truly spectacular. We can't wait to come back & try more dishes!
