We visited Canailles in Hochelaga (Montreal, QC) as part of the'MONTRÉAL À TABLE' event, & it was a fantastic experience. This'apportez votre vin' (BYOB) bistro has a wonderfully lively & cozy atmosphere, perfect for a night out.
The food was the star. We started with the oysters, which were absolutely delicious & incredibly fresh. For the main, the porc (pork) was cooked beautifully, proving the kitchen's skill with classic French techniques. We finished the meal with a wonderful selection of cheeses from Quebec-a perfect end to the night.
The service was friendly & efficient, especially given how busy it was for the event. For a high-quality, creative meal where you can bring your own wine, Canailles is a top-tier choice in Hochelaga. Highly recommended!

Nous sommes allé dans le cadre de MTL à table avec un trois service à 75$. Le menu était alléchant. L'exécution & la présentation pas tout à fait réussite & les portions des plats principaux étaient assez petite. J'ai dû renvoyer mon poisson qui manquait de cuisson. On m'a redonné la même pièce dans une nouvelle assiette qui je soupçonne avait fait un tour au micro-ondes (peut être au four). La salle a manger étant assez petite & bruyante, il n'était pas facile d'avoir une conversation avec nos convives. Le service était correct.
We were three people & tried the Montreal à Table menu. Service was good. The first course was tasty, but the Lobster Bisque would have been better with croutons. The Duck Breast portion in the second course felt small, the Braised Pork Cheek lacked presentation, & the cod seemed pre-prepared & reheated, with an odd texture & no sign of searing. The desserts were very good. Cozy atmosphere, but a bit loud.
Venu pour Montréal à table, franchement grande déception culinaire. Je ne rentrerai pas dans les détails mais je n'arrive pas à concevoir des chefs sortant des plats de cet qualité pour un prix de 85$ pour 3 services. Lieu bruyant également, mais bon ça n est pas vraiment de leur faute.
Triste soirée.
Les huîtres & les quartiers de citron les accompagnant étaient sec comme le désert.
La bisque de homard & truffe manquait d'assaisonnement, ça ne goûtait rien de plus que l'absence d'amour.
Les assiettes repas étaient tellement chaudes que la purée d'artichaut était assiégé d'un cerné brun, trace d'un jus seché, accompagné d'une sauce qui avait eu le temps de se faire une croûte, indice d'un temps prolongé sous un passe trop chaud.
Mais la cerise sur le sunday de la déception fut le dessert: une crème brûlée à la croûte de sucre MOLLE & CALCINÉ.
Pour 65$ par personne, je déconseille de tout mon coeur.
Toujours bon. Juste assez créatif pour que le menu soit varié, mais bon.
Seul hic, ça peut être un peu bruyant. Donc, pour un tête à tête sérieux, ce n'est peut pas l'endroit idéal. Mais pour une soirée festive entre amis, c'est très bien.
