Les Canailles is a lovely French bistro located in the new HOMA, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve area, which is developing at a fast pace. This restaurant, where you can bring your own wine has put in place a popular new concept of open kitchen on the dining room. The super friendly service and the excellent French cuisine are much appreciated by the clientele. The menu is amazingly interesting and makes it difficult to choose. There is a great choice of fresh fishes and seafood. Recently opened by the same experienced and well-known team of the restaurants: Monsieur B, O Thym, Les Héritiers and L'Emporte-Pièce, this new restaurant has easily made its place in the area. Service is great. Friendly, cozy restaurant. My girlfriend & I sat next to the window & we were both very cold. That being said, still a nice gem to go on a date, or birthday party. Bring your own wine, always a plus if you'd like to drink. We had the arancini, salmon tartare, tuna tataki, duck breast, & beef tartare. Arancini were great. Well seasoned, tasty not greasy. Tataki was good. The sauces on the plate had a very robust flavour altogether was good. Salmon tartare was good missing a tad of salt for my liking. However, when I cook I tend to use salt balanced for my liking. Beef tartare I really liked it a lot. The duck breast was perfectly cooked, too much sauce masked the taste of the duck breast, also too many carrots on the plate. Salad was well seasoned & the fries were tasty. All in all, I really recommend this restaurant, waitress was really sweet, was perfectly bilingual, so we could switch from French to English easily. My real rating would be 4.5 stars. But there are no half stars. Anyway, what a nice place to dine. Definitely try it out. ❤️ the draft both my girlfriend & I felt effected me however the overall experience was positive & we will definitely go back.
