Le Toasteur Villeray Montreal Restaurant: Menu, Reviews & Reserve (2026)
BreakfastCaféCrêpesSandwichesBurgersVegan OptionsBrunch
Le Toasteur Villeray is a breakfast and brunch restaurant in the heart of Villeray.

While the Toasteur concept has existed for several generations and has had several locations, it is in the Villeray district that it found its second wind.

At the end of 2020, we chose to flip the table, literally and figuratively! From reorganizing the space to redesigning the menu, we decided to renew ourselves. This was possible thanks to a passionate team and especially thanks to the neighborhood clientele who have been showing us their love of brunch for over 10 years.

Review Summary

Le Toasteur Villeray comes across as a cozy, bright brunch spot with a warm neighborhood vibe and a second floor that adds space. The rotating menu changes every two months to highlight seasonal and local ingredients, blending reinvented classics with original creations. Dishes are generous, flavorful, and well presented, with favorites like eggs Benedict on pain doré, avocado toast, poutine déjeuner, and thoughtful vegan options and gluten free adaptations. Coffee and drinks are a highlight, with a moka coffee and well made lattes and chai noted. Service is generally friendly and attentive, though some reviews mention slow pacing and long waits, especially for seating and during peak times. The place is described as family friendly and suitable for couples or solo visits, with reservations not available and weekend lines common, so arriving early is advised. Value is praised for generous portions and quality, while some readers note price and the wait as tradeoffs. Overall, Le Toasteur Villeray is seen as a standout brunch destination in Villeray, beloved for its atmosphere, creative seasonal menu, and welcoming staff, with a few caveats about service speed during busy periods.

Le Toaster is the coziest breakfast spot, full of that unmistakable Montreal charm (in one of Montreal's charming neighborhoods - Villeray). It genuinely feels like stepping into a warm bed-&-breakfast tucked inside someone's welcoming home. The menu offers a fantastic variety, & the staff are incredibly friendly, making the entire experience feel relaxed, personal, & memorable. A true gem for breakfast lovers.

Stumbled upon this place on our last day in Montreal, whilst tiny this place exceeded all our expectations. We had the most incredible breakfast! Highly recommend!

We arrived amidst a bustling crowd of eager patrons & were warmly welcomed by the excellent & friendly staff to this intimate spot.
Embracing the flavors of the season, we wasted no time in indulging in the offerings of the fall menu & immediately ordered a pumpkin spice latte (obviously). This is not your typical coffee with a small drizzle of cheap syrup. It is real, housemade pumpkin purée expertly blended into a velvety latte. This might be one of the best PSLs we've ever had.

Our meal choices were equally fantastic.
The Béné Mac n' Cheese with a harmonious fusion of decadent cheeses was as satisfying as it was delicious, especially when you add the secret menu item: smoked meat, to it.

Even the accompaniments proved to be delightful in their own right & not just filler. We savoured every last crumb of both the refreshing salad & breakfast potatoes.

We also ordered an extra side (because we have to try everything)-'Pain aux courgettes' highlighted by a truly exquisite house-crafted pumpkin jam.

We wholeheartedly recommend a visit. There may be a little wait (standard for brunch on a weekend, which is when we went), but we promise it's absolutely worth it.

Nice ambiance, friendly service.

Most revelatory for a brunch place: great options for vegetarians! For once not feeling like a second thought. The vegetarian classic breakfast comes with eggs, veg. sausage, tofu, salad, toast, & French toast with REAL maple syrup (no extra charge)!

Very good place to have breakfast. The food is very fresh & tasty, a many options in menu. In the morning quite busy, I think that's why it took 45 minutes to wait for the food, but it worth it. Coffee latte is huge size . I had great croissant sandwich.

I will guess that my review will not meet with the opinions of others. Sounded like a cool place & it is. Small eclectic & located in a tucked away part of Villeray that I frequented in a past life looking for things other than breakfast on Sunday.

As I guessed arriving there before 10:30 would assure us a table without a long wait & no sooner did we arrive that we had a "premium" spot by the window. Premium means we could actually get to our seats without having to climb over other diners..but not to worry.

Miniscule place with a miniscule kitchen so service was slower than like but we were well advised of the delay which I find most professional.

Food wise the menu is limited with crepes, eggs & healthier fare which for some reason I felt I needed after an evening of non indulgence.

Poached egg, some yogourt & muselix with 1 slice of toast & some fruit. Pretty healthy right .

I preceded this with a small glass of grapefruit juice which was actually quite good.

Overall the egg was poached very well indeed but the rest did not call for much of a cooking technique.

My guest had a crepe with cheddar, ham & asparagus. Crepe 100% cheese good but a little light, asparagus heavily grilled on one side only but my guest thought it was 100%, ham well too salty too abundant & actually too chewy. same fruits etc.

Coffee acceptable but milk in small individual containers is a nono for a "cool" place.

So not bad right but the kicker is it cost over $40 so I think there are quite a few other choices available & an extra slice of toast at a place called toasteur is not a bad idea
