Le Shack Du Pêcheur earns praise for fresh, flavorful seafood, generous portions, and a warm, welcoming ambiance that blends rustic charm with a maritime vibe. The menu features crowd favorites like fish and chips, chowder, mussels, and lobster dishes, with signatures such as lobster poutine and coconut lime fish and chips noted for their creativity and bright flavors. Service is consistently friendly and attentive, contributing to a smooth, enjoyable dining experience whether for a casual dinner or a family gathering, while the decor and atmosphere enhance the seaside shack feel. The La Prairie location is described as cozy and inviting, with a layout that feels intimate yet lively, and reservations are advisable due to popularity and limited space. Guests highlight superb seafood, generous portions, good value for the price, and a memorable experience that makes this spot a repeat destination on the south shore.
This used to be my 2nd favorite place for fish & chips, I will not be going back after the last two visits. Not enough batter on the fish & no taste. Serving one big piece does not work. I would prefer two smaller pieces with more taste. I didn't even finish eating the fish as it was not good. It's too bad as this place used to be good.
A growing institution on the South Shore. This place has been around for a while! Not too many spots like this on the South Shore & this place has the merit to serve pretty fresh fish. Nothing like fresh fish. Flaky, meaty, tasty.
Makes for great place for fish & chips. The size is also very respectable but we wished there was more coconut shavings.
Expensive but worth it.
I will say that when we went, the frying was not up to par...too much oil in the batter (fryer not hot enough or batter not cold enough?)
Unfortunately, the octopus is forgettable. Flavor is not special (although the menu description looks promising) & the cooking is not good. The octopus is too soft/cooked/grilled/boiled...not sure what it is but not nice. The portion is also a bit small. Good thing octopus has another 7 legs. The dish has potential!
What a fun discovery! The food was delicious. We had the clam chowder, & fish & chips, it was so good! The place is well decorated & the service was great. Will definitely be back!
A hidden gem in La Prairie! This is the place to go to on the south shore of Montreal if you're craving delicious seafood! Everything was fresh, super tasty & the service we got is also excellent! Super friendly staff & great restaurant ambiance! Their fish & chips & seafood platter are a must try! We would come back here for sure!
Had the fish & chips, grilled cod & fried platter. Food was very delicious with reasonable portions. The service was good & the atmosphere fitted the fishing shack vibe.
The restaurant is more on the smaller side, so if you want to go, it's best to make a reservation beforehand. Would recommend a visit if you are ever in the area!

Service was very good very nice even tried to speak. The kids love their food which was speak, macaroni & cheese & fish & chips. My husband & I I got the seafood platter. It was good but the muscles could meet some seasoning . & not all of myself was the best quality summer spoiled
Tucked away in the charming riverside town of La Prairie, just a short drive from Montreal, Shack Du Pêcheur offers a coastal culinary escape without ever leaving Quebec. From the moment you walk up to this laid-back yet stylish seafood shack, the smell of the ocean mingles with charcoal & citrus, letting you know you're in for something special.
The ambiance here is effortlessly inviting - a mix of rustic charm & vibrant maritime flair. Whether you're lounging on their breezy terrace in the summer or cozying up indoors, there's an unmistakable warmth to this place that mirrors its food.
& oh, the food.
The new Coconut Lime Fish & Chips is a standout twist on a classic. Flaky, perfectly fried fish is kissed with coconut & lime zest, offering tropical brightness with every bite. It's served atop golden fries with a tangy slaw & house-made tartare sauce that ties it all together beautifully.
Equally showstopping is the Méchant Homard Poutine. Imagine Quebec's iconic poutine elevated to luxury status: crispy fries smothered in rich lobster bisque-inspired gravy (bechamel) , cheese curds, fresh herbs, & crowned with an entire grilled lobster. It's decadent, comforting, & unforgettable - a must-try signature dish.
The Grilled Octopus Starter is art on a plate. Charred to perfection with a smoky tenderness, it rests atop a zesty Mediterranean Tapenade & peppery arugula, complemented with a fresh lemon wedge. Light, flavorful, & beautifully presented - it's a nod to Mediterranean finesse
& for being more of a seafood joint, this place cooked a perfect Ribeye.Something for everyone & the compound butter is sick!
Shack Du Pêcheur is more than a restaurant - it's a destination. Whether you're a Montreal local or visiting from afar, this spot delivers a bold & memorable seafood experience that celebrates the flavors of the sea with creative flair & exceptional care.
