Review Summary

Reviews portray Le Roy Jucep as a must try for poutine with generous portions and a retro diner vibe, where the classic cheese curds, crispy fries, and a rich brown gravy are praised by many; the place is often considered a key Quebec food landmark and a fun stop for travelers, though a few diners find the sauce overly sweet or the poutines underwhelming when taken to go, and a handful report uneven service or slow moments during busy periods; overall sentiment is that the poutine at Le Roy Jucep is solid and comforting, with many visitors returning for different varieties and to experience the nostalgic atmosphere.

Although it was a busy day, taste belongs to the taster. I du not like the food & it took forever to get served. The staff were young but friendly & polite but they took their time. It seems to be a popular place. I had poutine & a pogo, both tasted very sweet. My partner had smoked meat , coleslaw & fries . The smoke the meat was plain & not a lot on toast bread, the coleslaw was very vinegary & sweet & the fries were very ordinary. These are my tastes & not necessarily the majority for a total of $44.00 - I thought it was expensive & will not be a return customer.

It used to be a great place for poutine but it's not anymore. The fries are less than ordinary, no crunch at all, the cheese is somewhat fresh but doesn't really'squeak' are the sweet gravy is certainly not'original'. On the other hand, the burger I had was really well done & tasty.

You can't come to drummondville & not try the birthplace of poutine. They have a little plaque in the front of the restaurant that even says so (if you believe in that kind of stuff). Inventor of the poutine or not, I thought it was a fun place! Lots of seating, friendly staff, & a stacked menu. I got the regular poutine with the authentic sauce (it tastes a bit sweeter than the normal gravy) & I thought it was good! The cheese was very fresh. It's quirky that they put the cheese at the bottom.

A worthwhile tourist stop.

Stopped for the poutine. It was worth the stop. I would say personally I like a more spicy peppery gravy as this was a bit more of a sweet taste (I thought).

We only tried the original poutine & it was good. Not a fan of sweet gravy, but you can get used to it. It's a local tradition & you have to try it once. Also had an orange juice that's is blended to give it a frothy taste to it. Has a Tang-y taste & reminds me of my childhood.

Similar to other reviews, we were excited about eating at the place that supposedly created poutine, only to get a very sweet gravy that was pretty mediocre. Too much ketchup in it. The place looks great, the club sandwich & guedille as well, but disappointing classic poutine.

Enormous selection of poutine, had Cajun & the French one (pepper sauce). They were delicious. A lot of people mention that the sauce is sweet but it might be because they just took the "authentic" sauce which is sweet, you have to ask for the brown sauce which is the actual original one. Anyway, the poutine is up there with the best of them.

We tried their Poutine after hearing that this was the original restaurant that invented it. The sauce/gravy is sweet & the curd doesn't squeak like curd normally does. The curd does however have a nice flavour. I'm pretty sure the fries are frozen in a bag & not fresh cut. We ordered the large vegetarian & the portion size was ok for two. The waitress was friendly. Overall, I'd say that they're riding on the inventor story. We've had better Poutine at several other restaurants elsewhere.

Great poutine but there are better ones out there (the gravy was a touch too sweet). Lovely service & very vibrant & colourful decor.

The food was good but not more. The traditional poutine sauce is a bit sweet. it depends if you like that. The hot dog was a massive letdown. The atmosphere was great. & we got to meet the lady who invented poutine.
