Review Summary

Le Roy Jucep is described as a retro, welcoming diner renowned for poutine and a broad breakfast and lunch menu, with generous portions and well-made fries. The poutine earns high marks for the authentic cheese curds and savory sauce, though several tasters note the gravy can be sweeter than expected and vary by visit. The orange juice and some beverages are frequently praised, while the overall menu is seen as offering a solid traditional Quebec experience with a mix of classics and creative variants such as Cajun or smoked-meat poutines. Service is often described as fast, friendly, and attentive in busy rooms, but some experiences mention slow or uneven service, misorders, or staff shortages during peak times. The ambiance is repeatedly described as charming and nostalgic, with a vintage decor that enhances the dining experience. Some reviews reference changes in ownership or renovations and suggest a dip in quality, while others regard Le Roy Jucep as a must-visit and a tourism staple for tasting a historic dish. In short, Le Roy Jucep delivers a distinctive, generous, classic poutine experience that draws locals and travelers alike, with strong praise for the food and atmosphere and mixed notes on consistency and value.

This place is a real gem in Drummondville. It is a must-stop for breakfast & lunch. I haven't tried dinner yet, but I'm confident it would be just as great as my breakfast & lunch experiences.

The breakfast plates are delicious & very filling. On top of that, the prices are the most affordable I've experienced for breakfast in & around the Greater Montreal area (Laval, North Shore, & Montreal).

The best part, however, is the lunch menu. It includes soup, dessert, & coffee for under $16! The variety is impressive, with choices ranging from smoked meat to grilled chicken & pizza.

The portions are generous & come with multiple sides. For example, I ordered the grilled chicken breast, which came with broccoli & cauliflower, rice, house coleslaw, & French fries - & it also included a soup, dessert, & coffee - all for under $16 ($15.93).

The service & ambiance feel like a classic diner experience from the 1970s. This is a must-visit place anytime you're driving through Drummondville. Enjoy!

Me & my wife went here As we heard the poutine was phenomenal. We were a little nervous as we do not speak French & We had had some prior experiences with some people that were a little rude because of that, some were great On the other hand. This was one of the good times as Our waitress here was fantastic. She spoke some English & did her best to make us feel comfortable. Service was great, food was excellent.

Enormous selection of poutine, had Cajun & the French one (pepper sauce). They were delicious. A lot of people mention that the sauce is sweet but it might be because they just took the "authentic" sauce which is sweet, you have to ask for the brown sauce which is the actual original one. Anyway, the poutine is up there with the best of them.

It is the original poutine shack. Try it. You'll love it. Be ready to speak French. OJ is more than OK.

They say that they were the inventer of the French Canadian Poutine lunch. It's still available all over in QUEBEC CANADA. I love this luncheon. Minced meat, French fries topped with a thick brown sauce. But there's a trick to makeing it probably. The perfect amount of each ingredient. Bonne Appétit!

Only fitting to try poutine for the first time at the site of its invention. I don't completely understand the dish's popularity but I think the version Roy Jucep served was well made & I enjoyed trying it. Burgers were eh. Though the poutine was very rich, I'm glad I made room at the end to try the poutine dessert because that was the absolute highlight of the meal. I loved the French toast-like texture of the churro fries. Super cute diner atmosphere
