On va définitivement y retourner!
We were unaware that P'tit Belanger had only recently opened, but based on our experience i expect that this will quickly become a go-to for casual fine dining in Montreal.
We sat at the counter/Chef's table. Chef Leon was incredibly kind in walking us through the entire menu (I have long forgotten my grade school French lessons), making recommendations, & giving some background on the local produce & seasonal inspirations behind the menu. We ordered four small plates to share, my personal favourite being the gravlax, as well as cocktails. One member of our party was Celiac & the kitchen was extremely accommodating of allergies & possibly substitutions.
The pasta mains were fantastic. The macaroni (not pictured, it was eaten too quickly) was quintessential comfort food. Our Celiac member was able to order gluten free pasta as a substitute, & I shared a feature tortellini. All were fantastic with generous portions that unfortunately left little room for dessert.
Their cocktail program was also excellent. My first cocktail was sans-alcohol & was vibrant & refreshing. My second cocktail was whiskey & maple based & the perfect finish to the evening.
While we were only visiting Montreal for a short time I look forward to returning to P'tit Belanger any time I am passing through.
Bonjour,
From the moment we walked in, the vibes were warm & welcoming-all the staff were super attentive & friendly, making us feel right at home. The ambiance is super gorgeous: bright & chique, with a buzz that feels lively yet relaxed. Hands down, this is our new favorite restaurant in the city. We've had some incredible meals elsewhere, but this one ranks among the very best. Everything was absolutely flawless-flavorful, fresh, & stunningly presented.
We started with the polenta: a dreamy contrast of crisp exterior & soft, delicate interior, nestled in the most gorgeous tomato sauce. Next came the scallop crudo in green aguachile with rhubarb, cucumber, & avocado-every bite was a journey. The mac & cheese was elegant & perfectly balanced: rich, cheesy, but never overwhelming.
& then, the beet agnolotti. Absolutely next-level. So sweet & buttery it almost felt like dessert-an unapologetic, delicious elevation of beets encased in the most beautiful pasta. The crispy quinoa on top added a brilliant crunch.
We also enjoyed two lovely cocktails, followed by a rhubarb tart with meringue & cappuccinos to close out a perfect evening. This is a meal we'll remember for a long time-& we're already looking forward to coming back.
