Le Petit Dep comes across as a cozy, eclectic cafe and shop with a homey vibe that many find welcoming, offering a wide selection of high quality coffee, pastries and vegan options, plus charming local gifts. Reviewers praise friendly staff, fast service, and tasty croissants and cappuccinos, while some note the space is small or cluttered and that laptops are discouraged or not allowed, which can be a plus for some but frustrating for those hoping to work. Decor ranges from homely and quirky to busy, with some mentioning a charming kitsch atmosphere and others calling it overstuffed, but the overall vibe remains a highlight. Prices are sometimes described as a little steep for some items, yet many return weekend after weekend for beverages and treats, including chocolate and specialty drinks like matcha and chai. In sum, Le Petit Dep is a go to for a cozy casual visit with good coffee and pastry options, especially for locals and shoppers seeking a bright, unique vibe, while acknowledging a few drawbacks around space, interior design and the no laptops policy.
I wasn't able to try any food or drinks, unfortunately. After waiting about 10 minutes to get a seat & another 10 minutes to decide & stand in line, I selected three different items from the menu, only to be told that none of them were available. It would really help if the menu reflected what's actually in stock, or if staff informed customers earlier.
Went with a friend, we had a matcha & espresso & both were very disappointing. The matcha was lumpy & tasted bitter, & the espresso was $4 but minuscule, & my friend said it had a bad aftertaste. The space is beautiful & service was ok, although it took unnecessarily long for us to get our drinks, but not worth going if you're paying a decent amount of money for straight up bad drinks :(
I tried the iced raspberry matcha latte & I loved it so much. I always have trouble finding matcha that isn't sweet even with flavour added & this was perfectly balanced. It was busy, but I was impressed by the speed of the service. Lovely staff, would love to have bigger sizes available for the drinks though.

I've been here on almost every visit to Montreal (which are frequent), & have loved it every time! The food & drinks are delicious. While I am not a huge coffee drinker myself, both my husband & friend have really enjoyed the drinks here. Personally, I love the scones, & the atmosphere! There are so many fun Montreal-focused gifts to get here.
Such a cute spot for a drink & a bite to eat. We got a matcha latte (so so good, get one for sure), tea, & a chocolate chip cookie (delicious!). It's a great find, I wish I would have found it sooner on our trip!
I like their coffee & the vibes however I decided to get a matcha this time & it was the most mediocre matcha I've ever had. Paid $8 for a drink I had to throw in the sink 😣
The drinks were all great & they have a bunch of products from around Montreal for purchase. It's pretty touristy, a little loud & a little expensive, but everything was good & it's very cute so worth the visit

The soft serve ice cream was incredibly tasty & refreshing. The iced lemonade drink could use some improvement as it wasn't very flavorful, was only slightly colder than room temperature, & seemed to be made with tap water if that matters. However, the ice cream was excellent, & I'm excited to come back & try the pastries!
I find that the food was never so great & the coffee I had was extremely bitter (I am not usually a picky coffee drinker). I came here as I had a lot of work that I needed to get done before my appointment that was nearby. So I bought my $5 bitter coffee only to then be told that I can't have my laptop out :( It would have been nice to know this as their tiny sign that they have on only 1 of the tables is not noticeable at all. I felt like I wasted my time & money. Just added to the stress I already had that day.
This charming cafe was our favorite in montreal, & we came back a few times to escape the cold. The drinks are great as are the pastries & small dessert items. They have a nice selection of jams, bags, chocolate, etc along the back wall. The baristas were friendly. What really makes this place is the charming decor that fits in nicely with the area

I really loved this place but my most recent visit with friends from out of town was disappointing.
The two staff where slow, got the order wrong (they did corrected it after pointing it out) acting as if they where stoned & nonchalant, our drinks where served in paper cups for drinking inside. The Coffee (An Americano) was poured wrong & had no flavour until I took the last sip. The toilet stank like stale urine which stuck to my shoes as the smell wafted with me to my seating area.
Overall this place has completely lost its charm.
I’ll go back to Olive & Gourmando next time as a new & better choice.
