The most adorable cafe in all of Old Montreal! Situated a minute away from the Notre-Dame Basilica, Le Petit Dep is worth a detour & more.
As soon as you walk in, the area is so welcoming with soft, warm lighting. You're hit with the aromas of all their fresh baked goods & lured in by the cute souvenirs. From tote bags & Jellycats, to hoodies & soap bars - they've got it all.
Their pastries were reasonably priced & super fresh, especially the raspberry danish. Drop by if you're in the area for sure!!
July 2026:
I really wanted to thank the lady whose name I didn't catch for allowing me to recharge my phone at the café. We had to purchase something, but it ended up being worth it!
I ordered herbal tea & a date square. I hadn't eaten in a while, so it was really nice to have something to eat. Every time I look at the café, they seem to have different flavours of squares. I especially love date squares, so I was happy to enjoy one again!
Thank you so much for allowing me to recharge my phone at your café. I really appreciate it!
Le Petit Dep - Dessert, Chaos & Jellycat Temptation 🍦😂
Le Petit Dep - where we came for ice cream & somehow ended up negotiating with our daughter over Jellycat plushies. 😅
Our daughter was absolutely in heaven with her orange soft-serve twist 🍊🍦 - pure happiness in a cone. My wife went for the sugar cookie with Nutella, because apparently there is no such thing as too much sugar when you're on vacation. & I had a dark chocolate croissant with a delicious, tasty filling - très bon! 🥐🍫
Everything was delicious, but honestly, the real danger was not the dessert.
It was the Jellycats. 😂
Our daughter spotted them immediately, & suddenly leaving the café became a full-scale diplomatic mission. It took a miracle, several negotiations, & probably divine intervention to walk out without adopting another plushy. 🧸🤣
Great little spot, fun atmosphere, delicious treats, & apparently a highly dangerous location for parents with a Jellycat-loving child.
5 stars - & we escaped with our wallets only slightly traumatized. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Très belle expérience ! ☕🥐
This cafe is so cute. Not only does it have a wide selection of baked goods, sandwiches, salads & coffees, it also has a ton of local Montreal gifts (candles, candies, mugs, shirts, etc.). It's also right in the heart of old town. Definitely worth a visit.
Very cute cafe, small but have enough seats for a short break. Don't come in here & sit down all day with yr laptop. They sell a lot of local made Quebec made items. Worth to stop by & get unique souvenirs.
From the outside facade to the indoor sitting area, it feels like you are walking into someone's kitchen. There is a huge wooden table with many chairs. They are so busy & the reason is based on my experience, the cold brew & small fruits scone I ordered were great. The scone was fresh & not too sweet. The cold brew was really good, not too strong or weak. The staff is friendly. I was visiting Old Montreal, so the cafe was super busy, I do not know if it is always like this, & if yes, it is because of the quality of the product & staff. Be patient when you place your order, they have so many customers. They also sell all kinds of jam, honey & so much more.
It is a gem nestled in Old Montreal. Make sure to stop if you visit the area.
