We ordered four dishes: Xiao long bao (pork soup dumplings), prawn wonton soup, General Tao chicken, & hot & sour soup. The prawn wonton soup, General Tao & hot & sour soup were all enjoyable & well prepared.
However, the Xiao long bao (pork soup dumplings) stood out as an issue. It was noticeably sweet rather than savoury. When we raised this with the owner, we were told this was normal unless ordering the pork with cilantro option.
This was surprising to us, as xiao long bao is traditionally a Shanghainese dish & is characteristically savoury, not sweet. This was our first experience encountering a sweet version.
No nonsense really solid dumpling place. Quality for price is really good for the neighbourhood. Fresh ingredients, & very filling portions. The sweet & spicy soup is very hearty for what you'd expect.
Absolutely delicious dumplings. Our meal in order of my preference was lamb with cumin, beef & onion (visible pieces of onion, yum!) & chicken curry. We got the last one fried. Outstanding flavour. Staff were kind & attentive. Very respectful of my coriander allergy. Restaurant is small. We ate early (5:15pm on a Sunday) & we were okay to find a table. Sauces available at the table were soya, vinegar & a red hot sauce. No chili oil, & I didn't ask, & honestly, I didn't miss it. The dumplings were really good just plain or dipped in the soya sauce. 4 people eating. My table also ordered shrimp & pork & the sweet pork. My husband said the shrimp with pork were okay, just not exciting. He did enjoy the sweet pork. Step son also had added the peanut sauce on the side. Bill without tip was 102$ for 4 people. Highly recommended for delicious dumplings & for ordering a bunch of different kinds to share.
Delicious! But.. The General Tao, was amazing! The chicken & rice perfectly cooked, & the sauce, was really good! The cold spicy noodles, was a big disappointment, not spicy at all (really too sweet actually)..
This place is a hidden gem for dumplings. We stumbled upon this place accidentally & are so happy we found it. The seaweed salad is out of this world. You have to order it. We got the chicken & mushroom dumplings with half beef & onion dumplings. & we also got the juicy sweet pork soup dumplings. Everything was 10/10. The staff also gave us Halloween candy as a complimentary dessert! We will be recommending this place to everyone.
This was really nice.
There was an old lady making dumplings in the corner which made it feel special.
Halloween decorations were so cute.
Place is very clean.
We did take out, the hot & sour soup was wow!
The General Tao Chicken was good, but too sweet for me.
Ok ordered door dash, shout out to Clay . Fast delivery.
Now the meal
Ordered the General Tao
I requested 4/5 spicy. They delivered! Most are nothing but sugary syrup. This one, not too sweet. Normally the sweetness cracks the teeth.
Only 1complaint( kinda important). The chicken was dry , to dry & chewy.
Taste spot on.
Spice spot on. 7.2/10
Wong tong soup… amazingly tasty the dumplings were firm. More of the fresh chopped green onion would be appreciated. 9.2/10
Pork/ shrimp dumplings great( I never ordered before, so they came by themselves… dry.. dumped the Tao sauce & it was good. 8.7/10
Spring roles 8.3/10
