Yes, Le Passé Composé has 1 menu available to view.
Le Passé Composé is widely celebrated as an exceptional brunch destination in Montreal, offering a sophisticated and creative menu that frequently highlights high-quality ingredients like duck, foie gras, and bone marrow. Guests often describe the dishes as visually stunning, flavourful, and generously portioned, making for a memorable dining experience. The restaurant is consistently praised for its elegant, rustic-modern decor and its charming atmosphere, particularly on the outdoor terrace. While many patrons enjoy attentive and friendly service, some visitors have noted inconsistencies in staff pacing or communication during busier periods. Despite varying opinions on pricing and table spacing, many diners consider it a must-visit spot and express a strong desire to return for future meals.
Everything was excellent. Sadly, the machine for caffeinated beverages was out of order that morning with servicing promised for the afternoon. I have no doubt that the meal was very authentic French cuisine. Unfortunately, having spent decades in California now, I simply could not handle the salt & oil levels after I exhausted the slice of bread that was part of the bone marrow & duck leg brunch entree. I had a similar epiphany at nearby Vallier which was also excellent. The depth of flavor is amazing. Rich, decadent, old school
J'ai bien aimé. Je m'ennuie cependant de l'ancien menu brunch (2021) . De plus, je trouve que l'espace entre les tables sont petites. Peu d'intimité. Le serveur nettoyait la table d'accoter & je recevais son produit sur moi
Stumbled upon this Brunch spot in MTL. This Crispy Ocean Burger is mind-blowing good, it's got a MASSIVE piece of Fried Cod, Trout Roe, Yogurt, Dill-infused Slaw, served between a soft Brioche Bun with side Fries or Potatoes! Trout Roe wasn't really coming through flavour wise, but it was a satisfying Burger overall👏🏻
Nice atmosphere. The decor is interesting to look at. The space is a little tight (seated at a table of 4 quite close to other tables).
Food (picky eater)
The water is potable but the glass smelled funky (fyi no fruits).
The Contre-Filet de Boeuf Rôtis was unimpressive. I liked the rösti, the vegetables, & the pickled pearl onions. The rosbif was grey but tender which allowed the spotlight to be the duck egg but it's the usual egg trade-off of completely runny yolk = some slimy whites.
Note: the Champêtre was more to my palate.
The fries were decent but their house mayo tasted fishy?
We did not try any drinks.
Service was nice.
(context: reservation, 4 people, on time, 1hr before closing)
We were greeted at the door (possibly because only the entering left door opens: outwards) we were seated with water after checking our reservation with the host. We looked over the menu & our waiter seamlessly came to take our orders. While we waited for our food our waters were consistently refilled. (It looked as though we waited longer for our meals than other tables & the plates were staggered 3 + 1)
At closing a busser came to pick up our plates & their manner was more abrasive than that of our waiter (they both asked before even gesturing to take each of our plates away)
Minimum suggested tip is 18% on the card reader.
Side note for the menu
Some item names are different in French & English & when the runners come to deliver the plates they say the French names.
There is a paper divider between French & English.
When comparing items menu to menu with a friend some were not in the same spots & it was a little confusing.
Très belle acceuil & service! La nouriture était originale & savoureuse. Parfait pour un anniversaire brunch dans un cadre élégant.
Moins adapté pour les petits budgets
My girlfriend & I heard many great things about Passé Composé so we were very excited to come try this place out.
Overall, the vibes were great (we were seated outside on the patio) & the service was friendly but a bit slow.
We ordered the Smoked Salmon Waffle & the Passé Composé Bagel with a side of fries.
The waffle came with a healthy portion of spinach that was cooked well in the garlic butter, but perhaps a bit too much for the amount of smoke salmon that came with it. The waffle was great to absorb all the Hollandaise sauce & the yolk from the duck egg, but did not add any extra flavour or texture to the dish.
The bagel was solid but did not exceed expectations. The jalapeno & lime yoghurt elevated the flavour of the salmon but the bagel was a bit bland otherwise. The crispness of fried avocados added to the texture profile though.
Overall, we had a good brunch but it was not worth the price.
