sushi(10) vibe(7) fresh(6) burger(6) recommend(5) highly recommend(3) quality(3) bar(3) ist(3) kitchen(3)I was served by a waitress named Elia. Young but very professional & on top of it. We were not missing anything. Food came quickly & was delicious. Would definitely be back.
Nice place with a good vibe. The service was excellent, but it was quite quiet at the time. The food was fresh, tasty & presented beautifully. We only tried various sushi dishes but checked out the bergers being served & will try that in the future. Overall satisfied.
I had high hopes for this place. It is a great location, decorated nicely & has an amazing menu. So we went to the restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. To guarantee a spot, we made a reservation.
Reservations didn't seem to matter, as we came in & nobody asked us our name, nor was our table ready. We waited around 10 minutes & then another few minutes until the waitstaff brought a table & chairs up from the basement. When we sat down at the tiny table, it was rickety, but we didn't complain to avoid another wait.
The waitress came & took our order, appetizer: pulled beef tacos, two soups of the day (vegetable) & then a poke bowl & a hamburger. dessert Lava cake.
The waitress came quite a bit after we ordered with the beef tacos & told us that they were sitting around for a while & may be cold. She then offered to get us other ones after we tasted these, you know, to make sure they were cold enough to replace..We ended up eating the cold ones.
She then showed up with one soup & then disappeared into the back. We waited for the second soup, but after multiple minutes we figured it was never coming.
The waitress then showed up & shoved the sushi bowl next to my wife's soup. The table was literally two by two & crowding the sushi into the soup bowl made eating the soup a bit uncomfortable.
We then asked her about the missing soup.
She explained that the hamburger was ready & if she gave me the soup it would get cold, so she gave me the option to take the soup & a cold hamburger or forget the soup. I cancelled the soup. (This will come back later in the story)
The hamburger came, cold. I looked around for the waitress to tell her, but she again disappeared into the ether. I ate my cold hamburger & fries, thinking that I could have chosen to take the soup & nothing would have changed. (The soup comes up again later).
About five minutes into the main course we look over at the counter & see our lava cake & ice cream sitting there. We finish eating & it's still sitting there. We have a full conversation about maybe going & getting it ourselves, it's still sitting there. Five minutes after the conversation ends, lava & ice cream is still on the counter.
Finally the waitress makes an appearance & brings the cold cake (see a trend?) & the melted ice cream to our table. The lava cake was not so lava & the ice cream was water. We would have complained, sent it back, but you guessed it...The waitress had vanished.
Suddenly the waitress reappeared with a credit card machine. She handed it to me with a charge for over $150. There was no detailed receipt, just a machine shoved at me. I paid the bill on good faith, trusting that everything on it was charged correctly. She then asked me if I wanted a receipt, yes I said.
Looking over the receipt I noticed I was charged for the second soup. I caught her before she scurried off & told her. She told me she didn't know how to refund credit cards, but the owner was there, so she called him over. She told him that I ordered two soups & cancelled one...I corrected her that I ordered two soups & she only delivered one. The owner didn't seem to care. He pulled out cash from the cash register, handed to me & sent me on my way.
It's not often that I face such horrific service, this actually was a first in a long time. Will I give this place another shot, I don't know...
The owner was present the entire night & this terrible service still happened & he didn't seem to care that his waitress lied to his face...I guess they just take customers for granted...
Amazing food & amazing service! Everything tasted fresh & flavorful, & the staff were super friendly. One of the best places I've been for burgers & sushi. Highly recommend!'
I could have sworn Rec Room does way better overall if they had the same menu. Just go across. Or Belle & La Boeuf. Or Patty Slaps. Or whatever in Fou Fou. Just anything but this place.
I almost wanted to put 1 star without even trying it, simply because of the amount of time I went there & they were not opened because the hours were all weird (the ones on Google didn't seem to match as well) almost like as if they do whatever they want which is frustrating to some customers who want to try this restaurant. The idea of having some sushi, burgers, etc from the same restaurant is interesting enough to attract some attentions. However, I wonder why this wasn't even listed on Royalmount's list of restaurants like an abandoned ignored redacted kid in the big family tree. It gives a very strong Israeli vibe almost meant just for their own community despite the menu being a fusion of Japanese American etc. I'm open to different unique sushi which doesn't have to be too traditional & they don't need to be done by the Japanese people for authenticity (or I wouldn't have tried this restaurant in the first place). But to say that this is the best sushi place is very much of a stretch. Laughable. It feels like those reviews came from friends or employees or simply people who didn't explore enough great sushi restaurants in their life. Even the employees rolling them looked worried when they saw me eating. They might be great at rolling something else for SQDC. Sorry, the sushi ain't for me & the burger was just okay. Not the best choice at Royalmount. Fries were subpar as well. The restaurant looked over-staffed when I was there, with subpar service. The soy sauce was super salty & the wasabi paste tasted weird with 0%'spiciness'. It doesn't deserve to be rated above 4 out of 5 overall. Sorry.
Worst sushi I ever had, & don't even get me started on the service. They clearly only care for their own people. Don't even bother going there when you have all these other great options at Royalmount. Never again.
My favorite sushi ever i love everyone that works here⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?
The Food Is Superb!!! The Prices are a Steal for High End Quality..& the Vibe is Chill...
