Le Carré delivers a refined yet welcoming dining experience with warm service, stylish decor, and a menu that blends Mediterranean influences with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Dishes range from perfectly cooked octopus and crisp calamari to beef carpaccio, tuna tartare, gnocchi with mushrooms, and rich duck confit pasta, all noted for thoughtful presentation and balanced flavors, while seafood risotto and classics like fish and chips or tartare also receive praise. The wine list and cocktails pair well with meals, and attentive, knowledgeable staff enhance each visit. The intimate setting makes it a good choice for celebrations or a special night out, though seating is limited and pacing can vary. Overall the experience combines quality, creativity and warmth, inviting return visits.
I had the roasted broccoli with pears & Mouhamara & it was a bit underwhelming. Grilled octopus for main was a bit too chewy for my taste. Great atmosphere though.

Restaurant Le Carré is a true culinary standout in downtown Montreal. The moment you step in, the atmosphere is refined yet inviting a perfect'cozy-chic' setting for a truly super high-end food experience. Their commitment to Mediterranean-influenced cuisine, utilizing local Quebec products, shines through in every plate. I highly recommend the sward fish it was impeccably prepared, showcasing both skill & creativity. The presentation of the dishes is artful, & the service is polished, attentive, & genuinely warm. Whether for a business lunch or a special occasion dinner, Le Carré delivers an elevated, memorable meal that justifies every dollar. A must-visit for serious gourmands!
Wife & I were staying at the Hotel & tried this charming little restaurant right off the lobby. The food was great but the best part was getting a table off to its self right next to the barman. I believe his name was Francois; he has a pony tail & makes the best Old Fashioned I ever had. The highlight of our evening was him giving me a lesson in how to make his version of that amazing drink; I greatly appreciated that. Overall, if I'm ever again in Montreal, I'm staying here & eating at Restaurant Le Carre!
Went for dinner with my mom & we ordered the lamb & duck confit pasta per recommendation. The duck confit pasta was heavenly & very filling! The lamb was super tender & I loved the baba ganoush but I felt the sauces were a bit too sweet so the plate lacked balance. The veggies were glazed too so there were too many sweet things. Otherwise, the lamb itself was so good. Their salad is also amazing, I recommend it. My mom & I did not get drinks, shared a salad & shared dessert, so it came to only $60 per person & we were very full & satisfied. We will be back to try other dishes!!
Our first night in Montreal & the food, drinks, ambiance & staff were outstanding. James was our host & our guide & he was cordial, knowledgeable & attentive.
Highly recommended.

After doing some research we chose to come to Le Carré for my wife's birthday & it did not disappoint! First & foremost from the first sip of the soup du jour the food was absolutely amazing. We had chicken in a delicious red pepper sauce & the steak which was perfect rare. James our waiter guided us through each step of our meal. The pride the entire staff takes in maintaining quality while being down to earth is quite evident. Very impressed & will be back the next time we visit!

The lamb was enjoyed by my companion & the duck linguine was delicious!
Bustling but the tables are at a reasonable distance from each other. 100% a great location, I will be back!
I was in town for a conference & chose Le Carré for a nice dinner because it was nearby.
I walked in the door & James sat me at the bar & proceeded to take the best care of me for the rest of the evening.
I was torn between 3 mains that all looked good, & James talked me into ordering the lamb shoulder. He said it was the best dish they served, & still it exceeded my expectations. I asked him for a wine to go with it, & he recommended a full bodied red that paired very well.
For dessert he recommended the crispy maple squares, despite the fact I was considering 3 other options. At this point I felt I had no choice but to listen to James, & again he did not disappoint.
This was easily the nicest meal I have had in years. Thank you very much James & the staff behind the scenes at Le Carré. I wish I lived closer so that I could visit again soon.

I am shocked by the 4.7 review( as of July 2025), I did not feel like the food was up to expectations. Most of the table took the duck pasta because the waiter recommended it, it was a good 6/10. Did not taste like any duck was in it & the ingredients were particular… Honestly so disappointing. The service was really just okay, nothing special. The restaurant is very small, so you probably need a reservation.
