I'm complicit in the success of this place because I've made it my home to write.
In the Old Port, there are two places for the best coffee: Café Olimpico & Le Beau Marché.
Le Beau Marché is more than a café. The food is exceptional - beautiful takeout dishes & perfect additions for your home table. You really have to visit to discover everything they offer. Charles & the staff are from France, & you can taste that standard in everything they do.
Update: the breads & croissants are perfection. The coffee beans are superb.
Update: Michael Pokocky is now author-in-residence.
Christmas Update: they offer a superb catering service. Ask in store for their beautiful brochure or request it online.
🔥👏 Merci encore ! 🙌 Allez l'OM ! 😉
Stopped by Le Beau Marché to pick up some French butter & somehow left with a bag full of other things. It's one of those places where everything on the shelves is so thoughtfully curated that you can't help but keep browsing.
The selection of products from France & Quebec is fantastic - great cheeses, pantry items, & specialty ingredients you don't easily find elsewhere. It feels like a little gourmet treasure trove.
The owner was incredibly warm & friendly, which made the visit even better. You can tell there's real care behind the shop & the products they carry.
They also serve coffee & food, which looked great, but did not try. Definitely coming back next time we're in Montreal to spend more time & try the café.
