Since it opened in 1931, the Centre Eaton de Montréal’s iconic 9th floor restaurant has been known by Montrealers as “le neuvième”.
With La Grande Salle’s high ceiling and elegant architectural lines, Le 9e was among the first Art Deco interiors in the Province of Quebec, and is classified as a historic monument by the Ministry of Culture.
Lying dormant for twenty four years, Le 9e’s reopening in 2024 honours the past and embraces the future.

I wanted to share our experience today at Le 9e & their brunch menu. We arrived at around 11h45 thinking that this might be a wonderful place for brunch/lunch to celebrate my boyfriend's 78th birthday with his daughter & son-in-law. We were greeted by a very friendly "maître d'" who reassured us that there was place for us without a reservation & that we could borrow the menu to show our family. Once we all agreed that this was the place where we will dine, we were seated & all was well, excellent service. The pastries were very fresh & tasty. Sadly, the mains we chose were underwhelming: boudin noir, oeuf de canard & champignons, sauce HP maison; pea crepe (crepe was way overcooked & tasted burnt), smoked salmon & greens; eggs benedict. Nevertheless, the ambiance was special & the service generous so that cancelled out the disappointment in the food. The side of roasted potatoes was quite good though. I wonder if anyone had a similar experience or this was just unfortunate choices. Let me know. Thanks.View more

I've had the pleasure of dining at Île de France three times, & each experience has been exceptional. The service is consistently outstanding-staff go above & beyond to ensure a welcoming atmosphere & a memorable time. The food is simply delicious, with every dish crafted to perfection. As an Executive Assistant, I frequently recommend Île de France & French Line for both business meetings & personal dinners, & the feedback is always overwhelmingly positive. I especially want to commend Tammara, one of the managers, whose kind & attentive manner truly elevates the dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a refined & enjoyable lunch or evening.View more

On retrouve avec plaisir l'ascenseur qui mène au 9e. Malheureusement, les tables sont installées dans le corridor & non dans la salle à manger. Ustensiles posés directement sur la table nue, sans même un napperon en papier. Nourriture très ordinaire. Présentation déprimante. La soupe au poulet est tiède. Le hamburger arrive seul dans une assiette blanche, garni de minces tranches de pickles avec un peu de fromage. Décevant. Frites raides & sèches immangeables en surplus pour 9$. L'eau de la tisane est tiède. Bref, nothing to write your mother about. À ne pas refaire...Malheureusement

Endroit mythique qui renaît, certaines parties sont bien reconditionnées mais la partie restaurant est dans l'ancien corridor, je croyais manger dans la salle de l'époque La nourriture est excellente & le service impeccable Par-contre un peu froid & extrêmement bruyant & la musique en rajoute, difficile de tenir une discussion avec ses amis à la même tableView more

J'ai assisté à un spectacle d'un quatuor de chanteurs classiques acapella au 9ieme du centre Eaton. C'était un excellent spectacle. La salle a une belle acoustique. Je recommande cette expérience.View more

To begin with, the waiters were kind & service was overall good, with more than a few shortcomings. The decor is nice & stands out from other restaurants. But those are the only good things we noticed at Le 9e. Unfortunately, we had to wait an hour for our table of 5 (even though we had a reservation). I appreciate the staff for offering us appetizers & a drink in the meantime. After we were seated, it was another 45 minute wait for the food to arrive. We ended up eating at 10pm. Our original reservation was at 8:15pm. We ordered steak which arrived lukewarm. For a 42$ dish we expected a certain level of quality which was not met. The other guests were not impressed by the food either. Another thing we did not appreciate was the waiter looming directly behind us while each one of us was paying, as if to add pressure. That felt uncomfortable & unprofessional. Finally, we asked for takeout boxes for our left over food. I forgot my box & came back 2 minutes later to pick it up only to be said "sorry we threw it away". This was far from the level of service we expected at Le 9e, hence the 2 star review.View more

Agréablement surpris par l'excellent service, l'ambiance feutrée & très réconfortante, de même que les plats qui nous ont été servis (beignets d'homard, cocktail de crevettes, laitue Bibb, steak frites & saumon), tous délicieux !!!! Lieu superbe, service à perfectionner. Le serveur n'arrêtait pas de gesticuler quand il parlait, à plusieurs reprises quand je lui parlais pour donner ma commande il est parti à d'autres tables s'occuper d'autres clients, j'ai trouvé ça curieux. La nourriture était bonne, mais j'avais encore faim après. 30$ pour le (petit) tartare de thon est accompagné de 4 feuilles de salade verte nature, pour le prix il aurait été souhaitable d'avoir des frites ou des tartines de pain grillées ou même une vraie salade plutôt que juste ça. My boyfriend & I came here for our 2 year anniversary. The ambience is so cool I love art deco & how well the restaurant has been restored. Ask about the history its very cool! The service was good, they thought it was slow but we were happy to be there. We had 4 bottles of sparkling water.... & they kindly didn't charge us! My boyfriend had the special, it was duck & I had a bunch of sides. The gnocchi, asparagus, mushrooms, & frites. It was all very good with some unique flavors. Then we had the pecan pie & lime tart for dessert I liked these. They also gave us these for free which made for a special anniversary! I highly recommend dressing up & heading up here.View more
