Review Summary

Across reviews, L'Autre Saison is praised for exceptional food and service, with dishes like escargot, French onion soup, filet mignon, rack of lamb, poached salmon, duck confit, and vibrant desserts delivering flavor and finesse; the setting is repeatedly described as elegant and romantic, a classic townhouse with warm lighting and original decor, complemented by a handsome bar and a refined yet inviting atmosphere; the wine list is noted as extensive and well chosen, and live piano nights on weekends help set a memorable tone; guests repeatedly highlight attentive, personable staff and a chef driven by care and passion, making many visits feel like a special occasion, and while a few reviews mention price or service hiccups, the overall sentiment is that L'Autre Saison is one of the standout French dining experiences in Montreal and a restaurant to return to.

My friend & I had the most wonderful dining experience here & would recommend highly. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome & at home as guests & friends rather than just customers. The food was absolutely excellent so very high praise to the chef/owner & his team but what made it all even better was the amazing service we received from Meghan. She recommended food & wine & was utterly charming. We are sorry we didn't discover this wonderful restaurant sooner but will definitely be back on our next trip to Montreal. Thank you for such a lovely evening!

We used to come here every time we visited Montreal back between about 2002 to 2007 & the food, service & ambiance were always first rate & never disappointed. My wife just wondered whether the restaurant & Kazim were still there & I was pleasantly surprised to see they both are. We just decided to make the 6 hour drive not only to revive memories of Montreal but also to partake in the culinary delights offered here. So, in short, based on the reviews I've seen it is still first rate & hoping to see Kazim & enjoy his marvelous creations.

This restaurant is underrated, the food is wonderful & every main comes with potato & vegetables (you can choose smashed). The service is very good. However they are very tricky, they asked you still or sparking water & they don't tell you there is a hidden option : tap water. still water is so expensive 10 dollars per head

Me & my Father ate here when visiting Montreal our first night, & we walked in to a beautiful restaurant with a live piano. We were greeted by the most amazing host/server Mayghann. She was extremely knowledgeable of the food & wine, & gave us the best recommendations for beer, appetizers, entrees & dinner! All the while having the best personality! The food was phenomenal, & the service was some of the best I've ever seen (& this is coming from a top professional of the service industry myself). I would recommend anyone & everyone to eat here! You will not regret it.

Be aware-they actually charge you if you take the'free' candies, which is pretty misleading. On top of that, the attitude is really off. The staff look at you like they're somehow superior, which makes the whole experience uncomfortable. Definitely not a welcoming place.

Honestly, I'd rate this 0 stars if I could. A serious lack of respect from this place. They just lost two customers who happily went next door instead. & surprisingly, no French spoken at all.

This place clearly needs to learn what'respect' means. They just lost two customers. If you want to be disrespected, go there.

I would like to put 0 stars but i can't unfortunately. These guys should learn the definition of the term'respect' because they just lost 2 customers who actually went to the right next door restaurant. These guys don't even speak french, what an irony.

If you are looking at the reviews debating whether or not to go, I would strongly advise to. The food & the service are both excellent so you won't regret it!

Amazing service & food, beautiful setting, extensive & solid wine list. The very attentive personnel makes the experience a delight, & the piano nights ( Friday & Saturday) really sets the tone. PS: the Digby sourced scallops are a bliss, cooked to perfection.

The interior design was elegant & exquisite, creating a truly beautiful & sophisticated atmosphere. The live piano music made the whole dining experience feel even more special & memorable. The service was amazing - attentive, professional, & warm from beginning to end. The seafood was absolutely delicious, the wine selection was excellent, & the dessert was the perfect ending to a wonderful evening. One of the best dining experiences in Montreal.

Big YIKES. My partner & I (visibly queer) walked into this restaurant after looking up good French restaurants & seeing their menu. We went inside & right away were thrown off by the weird energy. There was one table yet the waiter had to go do a loop to go to if he could seat us. After seeing all the reviews about the blatant racism it makes sense as it was giving homophobia. Save your money & walk down the street to Weinstein & Gavino's- immaculate vibes, immaculate service. Ask for Sebastian- you're welcome!

This has to be one of my favorite restaurant experiences in Montreal ever. The food was delicious (I had the escargot appetizer & then grilled Salmon). Super flavorful & fresh, leaving me on the right side of full. The dessert (lava cake with ice cream) honestly healed something deep within me. Not only was the food amazing, but our server, Mayghann, was super charming, swooping in to fulfill requests we didn't even know we had. The owners even came out at one point to give us the history of the restaurant & building (a gorgeous, cozy townhouse with original murals & woodwork). Not to mention the LIVE PIANO. Wow. I will definitely be coming back, if only for a quick espresso & chat.

Everything about this restaurant was exceptional - the food, the service, & the atmosphere were all top notch. We dined as a group of seven, & every single person in our party was raving about their meal. It's a classic French dining experience where every detail is cared for. The dishes were not only delicious but clearly prepared with love & passion. The staff truly take pride in what they do, creating a warm, welcoming, & memorable experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!

I was just wandering around the neighborhood & discovered this hidden gem of restaurant. This was by far one of the best meals & dining experiences I've had in Montreal.

The meal started off with delicious warm complementary bread & bruschetta, followed by the French onion soup & Salade L'Autre Saison appetizers which were delicious & very generously portioned. The salad was put together impeccably, topped with a large block of brie that was fresh & savory. The French onion soup was the best I've had in this city.

Our main meals consisted of steak & the poached salmon in white mushroom sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly, extremely tender & whose flavor was enhanced by the bold red wine sauce. The salmon was cooked beautifully & paired nicely with the glass of Pinot Noir recommended by the owner. The warm apple tart a la mode recommended by the owner was the perfect ending to this amazing meal.

For those that have an interest in ambience, be prepared to enter a classic, romantic French townhome. With an unbelievable array of collectibles, including artwork & violins, you very well might be in Louis the XIV's Palace of Versailles.

There's a reason why the owner / chef duo have been in business for 50 years: delectable food in a gorgeous Parisian style townhouse served by gracious staff that all take pride in what they've built. I'll be back here multiple times on all my visits to Montreal.
