Review Summary

Reviewers describe L'Arrivage as an elegant, serene spot with unbeatable views of the Old Port and a setting that complements a museum visit. The atmosphere is praised as refined and pleasant, with service frequently noted as attentive, courteous, and thoughtful, though on busy days staff can feel stretched. The menu earns praise for flavor, originality, and careful presentation, with highlights including French toast with duck, the gochujang fried chicken sandwich, quiches, and a variety of shared plates; the wine and dessert selections also receive favorable mentions. Several guests call it a hidden gem and a fitting upstairs bistro with a bright, peaceful interior or a terrace vantage that makes the experience special. Yet a few reviews point to inconsistencies such as some entrees arriving charred or overly heavy poutine, smaller portions for the price, and higher prices due to the museum setting. Overall, L'Arrivage is seen as a well located, enjoyable option for a museum day that can be memorable and worth returning to, despite the occasional letdown.

Discreetly located on the top floor of the Museum building, just take the elevator. No museum ticket is required to eat at the Bistro l'Arrivage. As far as we are concerned, we stopped there before a visit to the museum. The kitchen closes at 3 pm. The offerings cater to both light nibblers & significant appetites. They serve a wide variety of beverages & drinks. Large bay windows let the light in. A very plesant & harmonious background music, a splendid view o our beloved Old Montreal, a promenade that photo & video enthusiasts will love... that's the decor of the place! But the waitress REALLY made the experience SPECIAL. EXCELLENT service! . She welcomed us more like guests than like customers. & finally, the prices are reasonable.

I normally have low expectations for museum food, but I had a fantastic lunch here.

The gochujang fried chicken sandwich was so good! It had lots of flavor, was perfectly crispy, & the fries are very nice. The poutine was pretty good too, even though im not usually a fan- we ordered two & one of them did have too much gravy. The quiches were nice.

Our server was fantastic, very friendly & thoughtful. The view from the restaurant is great, & its very convenient while in the museum to have a good place to eat.

This restaurant is upstairs in Building A at the Museum of Archaeology. The food is decent & it is not busy. Good place to checkout if you plan on staying over lunch at the museum.

Prices are a bit marked up since it is inside the attraction, but the setting is very nice as you are overlooking the Old Port.

Overall the portions were fine, but pretty disappointed how small the kids poutine was .. basically the same size as a bun. Some servers were pretty hospitable but not all.

Excellent service - so friendly & accommodating. Great food. Highly recommend the foie gras, iced coffee, beef carpaccio, tuna/salmon tartare, Quebec beef burger. Great views. A true gem above a fun museum.

One of the very few places still to be discovered in an over touristic Old port. Although this restaurant still has a lot of wrinkles to iron out, the atmosphere more than makes up for the annoying downfalls that still exist in the daily management of the place. We had drinks & the burger platter which was frankly very good. The parasol terrace was very pleasant with great views over the waterfront area. For now, I'll share a photo taken from our seat at the table, as well as a small video taken from the roof top right above the restaurant. Tip: at first, it is difficult to know how to get to the restaurant. When coming into the museum, immediately turn left & left again to the elevator. Notwithstanding a few services irritabilities, enjoy this still undiscovered gem, you will not regret the experience.

Nice place, like the atmosphere. The place is on top of museum, with a lot of windows. Good service. Food is good, but not great neither. Ok place overall.

The roasted beet & sweet potato tartare is delicious, the soup of the day was delicious, the service was exceptional! The view is excellent. We had a perfect meal after our tour of the museum. If you are near this museum, just the Bistro is worth a visit!
