Review Summary

Lahmajoune Villeray is a warm, family run spot in Montreal where the food feels handmade with care. The lahmajoune itself is praised for a thin, crisp crust and flavorful filling, while a wide array of kebbe, grape leaves, spinach pie, hummus, muhammara and cheese rolls showcases fresh, house made options. The service is repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, with generous portions and affordable prices that invite repeat visits. Popular items can sell out, so ordering ahead or arriving early is advised. Desserts such as baklava and namoura are highlighted, and the overall pick up or takeout experience is characterized by freshness, authenticity and a sense of family pride.

This is perhaps the'best' place in Montreal for the r2a2at (fried cheese rolls), the stuffed grape leaves (warak 3enab) & other things. The kibbeh is excellent. The lahmajoun are among the best (but have tough competition from Aroush). Etc etc

Bon ca, c'est mon opinion. D'autres libano-québéco-canadiens ont d'autres opinions. C'est légal !

& then what ? A complaint has been lodged at the OQLF because its web vitrine is not totally bilingual. On se moque de qui ?? .

What a lousy, pitiful, ridiculous joke. Pathetic.

The place is not like any other place. They have a spinach cheese pie that feels like my grandmother made it with the best ingredients there are to find. Here, you feel the quality & craftsmanship of their food; & they offer it with the utmost love & care. You guys have a client in me. Many thanks!

After watching an influencer's review of this establishment, I decided to go pay them a visit.

I walked in & I was quickly greeted with warm smiles. The older man tending to the oven as he made fresh lahmajounes. The lady helping. The young man (the son of the man at the eoven) behind the counter & I spoke about the history of this bakery. I mentioned that it was my first visit as I'm from off the island. There was an appreciation in his eyes, knowing that someone made an effort to visit his business.

I purchased many items... all made in-house: hot spinach-stuffed'sandwich' for the drive back home, stuffed vine leafs, Kebbe, cheese-cigar thingies, hummus, & of course the star of the show: lahmajounes (I'm not stranger to lahmajounes as I was introduced to them at a very early age by distant relatives).

Every single item was phenominal. Affordable. Bakery is clean. Parking can be challenging, but well worth the effort.

Cozy & warm! The guy in the front was extremely polite & down to earth. We were a bit late so lahmajoun was sold out but he suggested other options & they were so delicious. The cheese stick are a must try
Edit: the photos are from my second visit , pure deliciousness

This place is amazing & delicious. The staff are kind & welcoming. The recommendations to try items are fantastic. The grape leaves!!! I'm still dreaming of them…. The pies. The cheese rolls. Everything was perfection. Highly recommend coming here. Only downfall is that there is no tables/seating.

This place was absolutely fantastic - a hidden gem we just stumbled upon! Cash only (ATM across the street), family owned, very helpful staff who recommended what to try (& even gave us a free taste of a cheese roll, which ended up being one of our favorite things). For ~$30 CAD we got two drinks, two kibbeh, zaatar pita chips, baba ganoush, & the spinach & cheese manoushe. You must try the cheese roll & kibbeh especially.

Sadly I had to leave a bad review even though many people said this place was amazing. I had to throw out all the zaatar & cheese pies & spinach fatayer because the dough was sooooo salty that it ruined any other flavour that may have been good. Guessing it was just a batch? I can’t imagine it has been like this consistently

I wish I could leave 2 reviews. But the lahmajoun was actually quite good. I would give it a 3.5/5 so it did balance my experience from the above.
