Reviews consistently celebrate L'affaire est Chocolat for its exceptional hot chocolate, offering a range of chocolate origins and a European style that yields a rich, creamy, decadent experience, along with a chocolate tasting flight that invites exploration; the menu also features crepes, ice cream, and other chocolate focused treats, with many praising generous portions and fresh ingredients; the service is described as friendly, courteous, and efficient, and the space is cozy but small, with limited seating and occasional crowds, though a sunny outdoor area in summer adds to the appeal; overall the place comes across as a must visit for chocolate lovers and a reliable spot to return to for the chocolate first and foremost.
I went to L'Affaire est Chocolat today & absolutely loved the experience!
I had the hot chocolate (half chocolate / half milk), which was incredibly rich & creamy - honestly one of the best hot chocolates I've had in Montreal in my last 4 years. My partner had the goat cheese le Fermier, & it was delicious as well (I almost ate it all) probably one of the best grilled cheeses I've ever had! We finished with a sweet crepe that was also excellent.
The service was quick: we were served by a very friendly & efficient lady. We didn't eat on-site, but everything was prepared quickly & with care.
Definitely a place I highly recommend, & I'll absolutely be coming back soon! The prices are also very reasonable considering the quality of the food & drinks served.
Best hot cocoa with a variety of chocolates available. Great motivation to go out in the cold. The place is clean. The staff is courteous & efficient. In the summer, they have a nice seating area outside. Highly recommend & will definitely continue being a repeat customer.
Had the hot chocolate tasting flight, all European style. This was the most luxurious hot chocolate experience! The hot chocolate was super creamy & decadent! This is a must try experience!
Had the banana crepe & the brownie plate with the hot chocolate & cappuccino. Everything was tasteful. The space is cozy & inviting. worth trying for sure.
With so many cafes in Montreal with virtually identical offerings - I was delighted to find this special cafe with it's feature offering of a variety of imported chocolate pellets from around the world. I really appreciate the vast variety of chocolate types as well as the detail they put in to help identify the cocoa %. The seating is limited, after I took the last table there was a queue of people that could not sit & it was too cold to enjoy the beverages outside. So might be best to go during non-peak times if possible. The wall is lined up with some cute chocolate figures but most of these goods are quite overpriced. I have not tried the food here. Service was alright, not bad but not outstanding either.

This is easily my favorite coffee shop in all of Montreal. Amazing hot chocolate, super cozy atmosphere, & great service. I love coming here, & recommend it to all my friends whenever they come visit!
Frankly a great place to have hot chocolate, there's a lot of varieties of it, is small but the quality of the chocolate is 100% worth it. The atmosphere is really calm, & their customer service is great! ✨
