I've dined at this restaurant various times for both lunch & dinner - for both business & pleasure. Every experience has been exceptional. Montreal doesn't have a good rep for it's customer service (anywhere) so the service at this resto is quite the unique experience. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. Your wine & water glasses are always topped up without asking. The menu is not long & complicated and the chef even accommodates special requests. The entrees are tasty and the tiramisu served in a martini glass is heavenly. The wait staff is not pushy but relaxed. Tommy & Fabien are by far the best wait staff in Montreal. Bottom line, great resto and will go back - often!
I have dined at this restaurant with my husband almost a dozen times and with each experience we're extremely impressed.
The service is hands down some of the best I've received and the food is always superb. The temperature, seasoning and aesthetics of every dish is perfect.
It is never loud, the lighting is romantic and seating is comfortable.
The staff are all very kind and well humored.
This is a great place for a romantic dinner, a business meeting, celebrations...
My husband and I have yet to test the outdoor experience, but with out a doubt we will be doing so as soon as the weather permits :))
For those interested in trying a new restaurant...this one should be on the top of your list!!!!
Well... where shall I begin...? I ABSOLUTELY love that restaurant. It is definitely my favourite Italian restaurant, ever since I discovered it I have been ignoring all other Italian places. As a matter of fact, it's my favourite restaurant period. The food is to die for, I keep going back and simply cannot get enough! The service is fantastic, I have never seen such friendly, professional, funny, smart, efficient waiters. The decor is fabulous, modern, tasteful! Ambiance is perfect, warm, welcoming... Go see it for yourself!
La verita is one of my favorite restaurants. The menu is great with lots of delicious options and so is the wine! It is a great restaurant for intimate evenings or even for group parties. We have even had private parties here which were amazing. Definitely a must go to restaurant in montreal!
We held our office Christmas party at La Verita on December 12th, 2012. I cannot even find the words to describe our experience. From the moment we walked in, you could feel the coziness, and the smell....yummy. We stood at the bar for approximately 1/2 hour, we had a drink, the bartender was very pleasant, knowledgeable and funny.
We then sat down for dinner, the table looked beautiful! They started serving our Antipasto, everyone was in awe at how amazingly delicious it was and how much food was actually being served (we had quite a few men in our group, and their bellies were very happy! LOL)
We then had the pasta, which was cooked to perfection (I'm Italian, so I know good pasta). The portion was just the right size. Then we had salad (also amazing). For the main course, there was either salmon or Filet Mignon. I had the salmon, the portion was enough for 3 people, and so delicious and moist. The people who had the Filet Mignon said it was the best they had ever had! The vegetables were crispy, fresh and so yummy. The mashed potatoes were perfect. What everyone noticed was that the food was actually amazing in taste, and was not salty or covered with fancy sauces...it was just pure amazing taste. Even the bread was awesome. And then, the Tiramisu...OMG I was in heaven. It was so delicious, it was the best I have ever had. And the cappucino was also perfect.
And the service...so professional, so quick, so well timed and pleasant. Our waiter Fabien was such a pleasure.
Would I recommend this restaurant....NO DOUBT. Believe, me, I am a very fussy eater, and this place amazed me continuously. The restaurant is very quaint, very cozy, and beautiful.
Truly an amazing experience. We will be back!!! Thanks to all for your assistance in putting this party together.
I wish all of you the best for the holidays, and a truly amazing 2013.
I`ve been to La Verita often and even do lots of business lunches there. I find the food to be amazing and the service pretty good until now. I made reservations a few days ago for a dinner scheduled a week from now to get a call saying someone made a mistake and set us on a table that could not fit the amount of people we are. Instead of trying to come up with a solution since it was their mistake and after all it was a table of 4 and we are 5 people all I get as a response is ``I am sorry``. I am extremely disappointed that they handled the situation unprofessionally and will never go there again for personal or business dinners!
When visiting Montreal recently we found La Verita on the Internet when looking for a good restaurant near the Fairview Mall. What a find! We had a fantastic restaurant experience - great food, congenial responsive service in an elegant, contemporary ambiance. Never mind how close it was to the mall, this restaurant is worth the trip from anywhere in Montreal. We highly recommend it - you won't be disappointed!
Excellent restaurant!
Our dining experience at La Verita exceeding expectations. The food and service were top-notch. We thoroughly enjoyed the grilled octopus appetizer and the lamb chops main course. The Angus steak was very good but not as succulent as the other dishes just mentioned. We had two excellent bottles of wine - Tenuta di Castiglioi (2008). At $60.00 per bottle - well worth the price. The service was superior to most other restaurants. We had he attention of multiple servers who seemed to enjoy their work and pleasing the customers. We'll definitely go back!
My experience at La Verita was great, from the ambiance to the music. It wasn't too loud and I could actually have a decent conversation. The interior decor was contemporary and a pleasure to view. The waiter was charming and very knowledgeable on the food and wine. His suggestions were pretty helpful. I started off my meal with the grilled octopus which was served with mixed greens tossed in an aged balsamic vinaigrette. It was enjoyable, flavourful and light enough that I was anticipating my entrée. However, my date wasn't too crazy about the foie gras as it was lacking in flavour and did not have the usual "melt in your mouth" effect. I wouldn't suggest it because it's pricey and lacked the wow factor. My main course selection was the lobster ravioli and it was al dente, creamy and mediocre. Whereas my date ordered the seafood risotto and it was excellent. If you like spicy, ask for a kick. I was most impressed by the fact that the scallops had a perfect consistency and they weren't too rubbery as most restaurants would cook them. Yet, the lobster claw and shrimp weren't enough. Lastly, I was able to feast my eyes on I-pad creations from the restaurant and I selected their house specialty, a maple cheesecake. It was eye candy and also offered many blends of flavour. Overall, I would go back and sample alternate dishes and would recommend it to friends.
This place is really pretty and the menu is fresh and clean. My favorite plate so far, is the liver, believe it or not. I also love the grilled beats. They show you their desserts on ipads...cool or what!
The terrace is so comfy, the decor inside is modern. The waiters are very friendly....ask for Fredex :)
Fabulous Italian gem in the West Island. Great food. A little on the pricier side but well worth it. It's solid. Definitely worth frequenting.
One of the best restaurants we have ever been to. The food, the service and the decor, impeccable! A must try.
I had my husband's surprise 40th birthday party at La Verita Restaurant. What a marvelous and memorable evening! Thank you Derrick for taking care of everything. Your staff is so friendly, hospitable and competent. The food is exquisite and those desserts are simply divine! This restaurant has a delightful ambience... modern yet cozy. Since then, we have returned many times and we just celebrated my Dad's 90th birthday and Mother's Day at La Verita. We really appreciated the beautiful roses you handed out to all the Mothers.... You guys are the best. See you soon!
Being from Italian heritage and always being told growing up that a home cooked meal is the best meal. By taking my first to last bite of food at La Verita was the closest thing to authentic home cooked meal that mamma would make at home. The attention to detail and the savory creations that are made on a daily basis has made me go there at least twice a week. The ambiance and setting of this fine Italian eatery is in my opinion the essence of an adult playground as they put it in the heart of the West Island. It is perfect for any and all occassions from a formal business lunch to a romantic evening for two. Some of the succulent dishes that are served that stand out is the Lobster ravioli... an amazing Bavette of beef and as for starters a very fair portion of grilled octopus.. But don't just take my word for it, because I guarantee the moment you arrive to the moment you leave the staff will take care of you like royalty and you truly will have the dinning experience of a life time. 5 stars bravo....
La Verita is by far one of the best Italian fine cuisine restaurants in Montreal. The food and service are top notch. My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at La Verita a few weeks ago and everyone only had positive things to say. Derek was open-minded with our non-traditional vision and we felt 100% confident with his opinions. La Verita really made the day complete. Everyone working was so helpful and professional. Whatever was needed, they were there to help. I honestly cannot say a negative word about this restaurant. You'll be seeing us often. Keep up the good work La Verita!
First Impressions : I recently attended a wedding held at this resto and it was wonderful! The ambiance was very romantic and food was dee-li-cious! The service was very friendly and i know that the bride and groom were very pleased with everything. I'll definitly be going back!
Dollar for dollar, one of the best restaurants in Montreal. Quality, presentation and taste of food is fantastic.
I held two private functions at the restaurant on a Sunday and both times had the same impressions as my private dinners. Quiet and calm, yet welcoming for those with kids, I've never had a bad meal.
Delightful deserts and great coffee.
I've paid more for worse meals at others restaurants in both downtown and the West Island.
Where do I start? First of all, after having heard about La Verita on numerous occasions through mutual friends, I finally decided to stop in and see what all the fuss was about. I walked in on a busy Saturday night and was taken aback by the warm ambience and welcoming staff. Once we got comfortable and looked over the menu, I had to deal with the inner battle of having to choose from the plethora of delicious sounding appetizers, followed by the main course selection ranging from traditional pasta dishes to an array of meats. I decided to go with the mozzarella di bufala to start followed by the lobster ravioli. The hype was spot on, the food was incredible. To top it all off, the owner, Derek, introduced himself and ensured that our first visit at La Verita would be an experience to remember. The service was top notch, the waiter was charismatic, the ambience was just right and the food was to die for. I would highly reccomend this restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. Did I mention the wine list? Please, go see for yourself!
