Review Summary

La Soupiere Malatang offers a popular and interactive dining experience where guests curate their own bowls from a wide selection of fresh ingredients, including high-quality seafood, meats, and vegetables, before having them prepared in flavorful, customizable broths. The restaurant is widely praised for its welcoming atmosphere, cleanliness, and the unique addition of a sauce bar and complimentary ice cream, making it a favorite spot for group outings. While the pay-by-weight concept requires guests to be mindful of their selections to manage costs, most patrons find the quality and variety well worth the price. 5 out of 5. It's the best Malatang place in town-authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, & tons of options. I've been going there all the time since it opened.

We came here twice, it was really nice. There's a good variety of soup flavor & food choices, seafood options are good. Service was good too, Mei was really helpful at our table. We had a good time, will come back!

Typical Chinese malatang place. Very similar to big way hotpot but more expensive. They have all sorts of ingredients/selections you can choose from & some very interesting seafood selections.
It's by weight ($4.49/100g) so some cheaper items may cost more than you think. Theres many soup base options to choose from including my personal favourite, the tomato soup base. They also have a sauce bar which includes all your hotpot sauce necessities.
At the end you get a free ice cream but I couldn't finish mine because I was stuffed from the actual meal. Service was good. Would come again but I find myself spending too much at these places, which is a me problem.

Montréal has always been weaker in comparison to Toronto & Vancouver when it comes to good Asian food. I'm very glad that is slowly changing with many new fantastic establishments opening up, & one of the front runner in bringing this change is La Soupiere Malataang.

This is a truly incredible place. The raw meat selection is fantastic & very fresh. The vegetable options are decent but nothing to write home oabout. The meat selection is on the other hand is good. The broth options are fantastic too & they are incredibly rich & full bodied.

As a torontonian native & having tried Malataang in Toronto, I am happy that Montreal probably has one of the best Malataang restaurant between the both cities.

The drinks are great. The milk tea is an underrated cheat code in the city. For 3.99 it beats out many other milk tea spots in its vicinity.

The servers are incredible, extremely professional & will go out of their way to accommodate you fully. They are always checking in on you & serving you with a smile.

I really hope they can keep their early momentum going for a very long time.

This restaurant delivers an excellent dining experience from start to finish. The menu offers a wide variety of broths, including both mild & spicy options, each well?balanced & aromatic. Ingredient quality is clearly a priority - vegetables were crisp, meats were well?marbled, & seafood tasted fresh. Service was efficient & friendly, with staff checking in regularly without being intrusive. The space is clean, comfortable, & well?ventilated, which makes a big difference. Overall, a reliable & delicious choice for anyone craving a satisfying meal. The unli ice cream is a plus! :) will surely comeback to bring more friends.

Soup tastes great & a lot of options, premium ingredients that i dont see often. Signature drink tasted good. Overall slightly more expensive than other similar places.

(If this is your first malatang, I would recommend stopping filling your bowl at around 80% of what you think you should have in your bowl.) Otherwise, the price might go up faster than you expect.
