About

La Sirène De La Mer specializes in authentic Mediterranean and Lebanese culinary traditions focused on the preparation of fresh seafood and charcoal-grilled meats. The menu features signature mezze platters including creamy hummus, smoky baba ghanoush, and crispy falafel crafted from traditional recipes. Main courses highlight whole fish seasoned with regional spices and served alongside vibrant tabbouleh or fragrant rice pilaf. Diners encounter a selection of vegetarian and meat-based options that emphasize high-quality ingredients and bold aromatics. The establishment maintains a consistent focus on Levantine flavors by utilizing imported oils and spices. These preparations remain faithful to the coastal heritage of the Middle East while providing substantial portions for individual and group enjoyment.

Review Summary

La Sirène de la Mer is widely recognized as a premier destination for fresh, authentic Lebanese seafood in Montreal, often praised for its high-quality ingredients and expertly prepared dishes like grilled shrimp, sea bream, and a variety of flavorful mezze. While many guests enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and feel like family, experiences with service are notably polarized, ranging from highly professional and attentive to chaotic, inattentive, or disorganized for some parties. Long-time patrons often highlight the restaurant as a consistent, reliable institution, though some recent visitors have expressed disappointment regarding inconsistent service standards, occasional lapses in reservation management, and fluctuating food quality. Ultimately, the venue remains a popular choice for both celebratory gatherings and casual dining, appreciated for its elegant setting and fish market offerings, despite mixed feedback on the overall service experience.

Had a family meal. 6 of us. It was $700 with tip & two bottles of wine. The food was good. But service was virtually non existent. After our order was taken we had a young in experienced girl (sweet but overwhelmed) taking care of us. To get any service (like a second bottle of wine) Unhad to wave people down. Other waiters would give me that look - that's not my table look. The manager never dropped by. No one asked if everything was good. The ambiance was ok. Very dated. Basically like eating a high end meal in a nice cafeteria. Same price as Milos with no service or ambiance. I will never go back.

Our table of seven people was warmly greeted. Our waiter was experienced & made recommendations of what appetizers to get without over-ordering. My first choice for a main wasn't available but the server helped me choose something else which ended up being fantastic & probably would have been overlooked without his guidance.

Sure, the menu items are expensive but from start to finish everything was expertly prepared. Easy & ample parking & wheelchair friendly.

Worst food ever. My fiancé's lamb chop meal consisted of 2 lamb chops, a few roasted vegetables, 3 shrimp & a small bowl of rice for $45. Her $15 alcoholic drink was disgusting, after 2 sips she realized that the people behind the bar did not know how prepare their own house drinks & water was a better choice. My so called chicken brochett was a total disaster, after telling the waiter 3 times I do not want any spice on my meal he reasured me that there was no added spice not correct of course. My chicken brochett consisted of a few small chicken cubes, some roasted vegetables & of course the whole plate was covered in some black dirt like spice. After the waiter reasured me it wasn't spice & to ignore my eyes. Sent it back & I said just give me a garden salad instead which they ignored & brought me a similar chicken meal minus the black dirt. Same small chicken cubes, roasted vegetables consisting of 1 slice of red pepper, 1 broccoli, some pita, garlic sauce & rice. I only ate the chicken, rice & red pepper because the rest smelled & looked disgusting. 20 years ago this place was great so I don't know what happened in the meantime. The pros for this restaurant is as follows, the glass of water, the $4 can of coke, the $15 small bowl of hummus, the small bowl of rice & the paper towels in the small men's bathroom. The cons speak for themselves in their menu of expensive & non edible food. My anniversary was completely ruined by these people, starvation would be a better alternative & you would definitely loose weight & money 💰 at this place. I strongly do not not recommend La Sirene de la mer.
