About us
At la Khaїma (nomad tent), at 142 Fairmount in Mile End, we enter into a nomadic world, a journey through colors, flavors and sensations. Once inside, African music accompanied by a rich fragrance emanating from the kitchen complete the multi-sensory experience that transports you to the Sahara. Couples can enjoy an intimate setting while large groups benefit from Moroccan salon comfort, eating from a long, low table.
The founder, of Mauritanian origin, greets guests and his joie-de-vivre warms the atmosphere. The cuisine is African with a nomad touch. Dishes are prepared with local products following the “Slow Food” concept, creating uniquely spiced tajines that offer an unparalleled taste experience. In accordance with the tradition of the desert, guests share large platters tasting all the flavors on offer, with enough to satisfy even the most demanding of appetites.

We started with a lentil soup, which was super creamy & tasty. We had two large plates of couscous (one vegetarian & one with meat) as the main course & both were delicious. The portions are very generous. We were a large group of 12 people & there were leftovers. Service was also great & the hibiscus tea served at the end was refreshing. Toilettes dégueulasses mixtes 🤮 je n'aurais pas aimé être une femme cette soirée là. Inacceptable & m'enlève l'envie d'y retourner. La propreté, elle est importante autant dans les cuisines que les toilettes. Alors imaginer. La nourriture correcte. Ça manque de viande. Trop facile de mettre full couscous & peu de viande. Somme toute... ça n'a plus le cachet d'avant. Comme si on surfait sur une réputation qui vient à mourir. Tic tac si rien ne change. Personnels agréables & amicales. Je suis allé à ce restaurant pour un anniversaire, nous étions un groupe de 20 personnes & avons été très bien reçus Quand on y entre, on enlève nos chaussures, & on prend place assis sur un petit banc sur des tables basses. Le serveur & cuisinier, Tommy, vient nous voir & nous explique le fonctionnement du restaurant: C'est un menu fixe de plats végétariens ou de viande à partager qui sont tous plus delicieux les uns que les autres. On commence avec un hummus, ensuite un plat principal puis un dessert & un excellent thé marocain qui est servi de manière traditionnelle!
