About us
At la Khaїma (nomad tent), at 142 Fairmount in Mile End, we enter into a nomadic world, a journey through colors, flavors and sensations. Once inside, African music accompanied by a rich fragrance emanating from the kitchen complete the multi-sensory experience that transports you to the Sahara. Couples can enjoy an intimate setting while large groups benefit from Moroccan salon comfort, eating from a long, low table.
The founder, of Mauritanian origin, greets guests and his joie-de-vivre warms the atmosphere. The cuisine is African with a nomad touch. Dishes are prepared with local products following the “Slow Food” concept, creating uniquely spiced tajines that offer an unparalleled taste experience. In accordance with the tradition of the desert, guests share large platters tasting all the flavors on offer, with enough to satisfy even the most demanding of appetites.

This cute restaurant serves up quality food in great quantities, & the menu is predetermined by the chef/owner based on what was cooked that day, which is an interesting touch that ensures you get the fresh food of the day. Because everyone eats the same food, it creates a nice ambiance in the restaurant. Performances add to the sense of community! However, service can be slow & sometimes inattentive. We were not served or offered water for the entire length of our meal, & there was not really an opportunity to flag down someone about this given the set up of tables.View more

ATTENTION gare aux amateurs de semoule !!!!!!!!!!! Nous sommes allé mangé le bon conscous pour l anniversaire d un ami & il a failli s etouffer lors du repas. Il y avait un caillou dans la semoule ! Sans parler de la bougie camouflée dans le gâteau d'anniversaire que nous avons failli avaler allumée (haha). Quelle idée, une bougie blanche sur une assiette blanche ! Mansion spéciale au thé qui était servi à la fin du repas même si il n y avait pas assez de verres pour le nombre de convives. Un peu déçus de la quantité même si le gourmand dont nous avons fêté l'anniversaire s'est régalé. Nous reviendrons armés d'une loupe la procheine fois pour éviter ce genre d'incidents ! We started with a lentil soup, which was super creamy & tasty. We had two large plates of couscous (one vegetarian & one with meat) as the main course & both were delicious. The portions are very generous. We were a large group of 12 people & there were leftovers. Service was also great & the hibiscus tea served at the end was refreshing.
