About us
At la Khaїma (nomad tent), at 142 Fairmount in Mile End, we enter into a nomadic world, a journey through colors, flavors and sensations. Once inside, African music accompanied by a rich fragrance emanating from the kitchen complete the multi-sensory experience that transports you to the Sahara. Couples can enjoy an intimate setting while large groups benefit from Moroccan salon comfort, eating from a long, low table.
The founder, of Mauritanian origin, greets guests and his joie-de-vivre warms the atmosphere. The cuisine is African with a nomad touch. Dishes are prepared with local products following the “Slow Food” concept, creating uniquely spiced tajines that offer an unparalleled taste experience. In accordance with the tradition of the desert, guests share large platters tasting all the flavors on offer, with enough to satisfy even the most demanding of appetites.

Expérience unique à Montréal, le décor & la nourriture sont à un très haut niveau. De plus le service est toujours de grande qualité avec des gens gentils & généreux de leur temps!
À garde en tête: plat unique à partager avec de la viande, pourrait être moins recommandé pour les végétariens même s'il y a toujours moyen de s'arranger.
Je suis allé 4 fois à la Khaima & je ne m'en lasse pas.

Unique experience in Montreal-both the setting & the food are of very high quality.
On top of that, the service is always excellent, with kind & generous staff who take their time with you!
Something to keep in mind: there's a single shared dish featuring meat, so it may be less suitable for vegetarians-although there's usually a way to make it work.
I've been to La Khaima four times & never get tired of it.View more

Je suis allée à La Khaïma pour la première fois ce lundi avec un groupe de 11 amies, toutes originaires d'Afrique du Nord & du Moyen-Orient, & nous avons absolument adoré notre expérience. L'atmosphère était vraiment agréable, avec une douce musique instrumentale nord-africaine, un éclairage tamisé, & très peu de monde autour de nous.
La personne qui nous a servies (le chef) était extrêmement aimable & nous a même apporté le plus énorme pot de jus d'hibiscus que j'aie jamais vu. Nous avons terminé tous nos plats : une soupe de lentilles délicieuse, suivie de trois mets principaux absolument sublimes. Les portions étaient très généreuses, & pour couronner le tout, nous avons reçu du thé à la menthe offert par la maison.
Nous étions toutes ravies & n'avons littéralement aucune plainte. Le repas nous est revenu à environ 30-35 $ par personne (avant tip), ce qui nous a semblé incroyablement abordable pour la qualité & la quantité servies. & bien sûr, cela nous a simplement donné envie de laisser un plus grand pourboire.
Côté confort, notre groupe était parfaitement installé sur une grande plateforme carrée entourée de petits bancs adossés aux bords, avec des coussins à disposition. Aucun mal de dos à signaler !
En résumé, nous avons eu l'impression d'être accueillies comme chez quelqu'un. Une expérience chaleureuse & mémorable que je recommande à 100 % 💛View more

We were seated at a cute low table & the server explained that it was a fixed menu. They offered to separate my vegetarian from my companions meal, which was appreciated. The first dish was a lentil soup which tasted good but was pretty watery. The main couscous dish was substantial but basic in terms of flavour, presentation & ingredients.. We were never offered a drink & when our meal was served we were missing forks & knives. We never saw our server after again even though the restaurant was actually empty. I guess this could be a good restaurant if you're very hungry because the portion sizes are big, but for the price I found it underwhelming.View more

I am usually a picky eater but their soup & couscous were delicious😍 especially the beef made with date sauce👌 The tea was good too but just a bit too sweet, so if you dont like your tea too sweet, remember to ask for no sugar. Really worth the price 🙌🏼 Also they dont have a menu they always serve the same thing,a small bowl of lentil soup for each as an entree with pita, then a big plate of couscous with sweet beef, chicken & veggies to share between everyone (the plate on the picture was big & for 5 persons). Finally tea & a little piece of some type of coconut'cake' I dont remember what they called it😅 anyways So so good ❤? would recommend to go before 8 pm on weekends because it fills up fastView more
