Across reviews, La Hueca is described as a charming, affordable hidden gem delivering bold, authentic Ecuadorian flavors in a generous, customizable bowl format. Diners praise the friendly, attentive service and warm atmosphere, with standout dishes like encebollado, bolon, ceviche, empanadas, locro de papa, and the tres leches cake that evoke home cooking. The place is noted for good value and portions, and many say the bowls are packed with flavor and ingredients you can mix to taste. A few criticisms appear, such as inconsistency with encebollado compared to the Guayaquil style, chifles not crispy, and a pulled pork bowl that can be watery, but these do not derail the overall positive impression. The location inside a mall food court is described as a bit hard to find, yet the discovery is part of the charm for many visitors who say they would return weekly or recommend it to others.
My first time having Ecuadorian food! Their bowls were delicious. Lots of flavour & I loved the different textures. I tried mote for the first time. It's giant corn kernels & tastes like potatoes. Their queso fresco is not too salty, like at some other places I've had. Service was warm & welcoming. It's in the Faubourg food court on the second floor towards the back. Follow the yellow tape on the ground, it will take you right there.
Accueil chaleureux & cuisine incroyable.

Gracias. Muy recomendado.
Haven't eaten ecuadorian food in a few years & I swear it was better than I remember. Everything is not only really authentic but better than restaurants back home. The owner is super nice & gives very good recommendations if you don't know what to eat. Would love to go often but live out of the city, would visit Montreal just to eat here again!
My first Ecuadorian food experience & I'm impressed! For less than 14$ I had a tasty, filling meal that was non-dairy & high in protein. The man at the counter was also very friendly & patiently explained what the different choices were, keeping in mind my food restrictions. Will gladly go again.

The people & service was absolutely wonderful but I'm sad to say that as an Ecuadorian this did not taste authentic. The ceviche that were ordered was overcooked, super soft, mushy, & oily. The empanadas ordered were so oil the napkin was drenched & dripping in oil. The only thing that was good were the drinks & the bowls. Super disappointed with the rest.
