Across reviews, La Hueca is described as a charming, affordable hidden gem delivering bold, authentic Ecuadorian flavors in a generous, customizable bowl format. Diners praise the friendly, attentive service and warm atmosphere, with standout dishes like encebollado, bolon, ceviche, empanadas, locro de papa, and the tres leches cake that evoke home cooking. The place is noted for good value and portions, and many say the bowls are packed with flavor and ingredients you can mix to taste. A few criticisms appear, such as inconsistency with encebollado compared to the Guayaquil style, chifles not crispy, and a pulled pork bowl that can be watery, but these do not derail the overall positive impression. The location inside a mall food court is described as a bit hard to find, yet the discovery is part of the charm for many visitors who say they would return weekly or recommend it to others.
Excelente experiencia, todo su personal es muy gentil, su comida deliciosa... me sentí en Ecuador 🇪🇨, prueben el bolón de verde y sus guaguas de pan ❤?.

This was my first time having Ecuadorian food, & it was amazing! I had the chicken bowl & absolutely loved how you could choose your own ingredients. The selection of different ingredients was incredible, & the server was super friendly & kindly answered questions I had. The portion size was generous, & the price was reasonable. If I didn't live 5 hours away, I'd be back in a flash!
I had the pleasure of trying Ecuadorian food recently, & it completely blew me away! The flavors are rich, comforting, & full of personality. From the locro de papa, to the hearty fritata-cooked in spices, every dish felt like a warm hug from Ecuador.
The empanadas were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, & paired perfectly sauce. & don't even get me started on the tres leche cake - that was amazing.
What really stood out was the balance of ingredients - simple, but packed with flavor. You can taste the love & tradition in every bite. Whether you're already a fan of Latin cuisine or trying something new, Ecuadorian food is a must-experience. I'm definitely going back for more!
If you're tired of Asian takeout, fried chicken, shawarma, sushi, mac&cheese, poke, ramen, burgers & beef noodles, then you owe it to yourself to check out La Hueca.
It's a South American (Ecuadorian) restaurant tucked away in a quiet food court downtown, in the same building as Marche Newon.
The food is uniquely flavored, delicious & really satisfying. Very comforting, especially on those cold, cold days.
I had the grilled chicken bowl - when I finished my meal, I was licking the bowl & already thinking of trying the other items on the menu. 2 carbs & 3 types of veg are included with the bowl so you know you're getting solid nutrition & real value for money.
I highly recommend a visit & do consider getting an extra order for the fam. You won't regret it.
June 2025: no change to my review, still an excellent choice for a great meal downtown.
As an Ecuadorian I know how hard is to get the ingredients to recreate all the most flavorful dishes of my country.
But I can say that this place makes me have nostalgia of my people & the amazing food from Ecuador.
Sadly I never have time to take pictures because I devour everything too fast!
I love the encebollado, bolon , empanadas & the juice that are 100% fresh & natural!!!
I hope that other dishes are included in menu soon!! Guatita, seco, hopefully crabs 😜
Shout out to the owner, super friendly & attentive, & super hard worker!

Great service by the owner. I am ecuadorian & this is probably the best encebollado I have ever tried. Even outside Ecuador. My son had the ceviche. The food is as close or even better than back home. Highly recommended.
The best Ecuadorian restaurant in Canada . We went there with my wife & my daughter & we love the quality of food food , the taste & experience brought me back to Ecuador. I remember trying fanesca typical food during April & it was best fanesca & empanadas I ever tried . I truly recommend for anyone !

As an Ecuadorian, super happy to have found this place! :) Flavor is pretty close to what you can find in Ecuador. Loved the customizable bowl concept!
The only Ecuadorian restaurant in Quebec. Definitely authentic with a complete menu of options. If you are looking for great food from Ecuador, this is your spot!

This was my first time trying Ecuadorian food & WOW! I'm carribean & grew up in a multicultural neighborhood in MTL with Dominicans, Salvadorians etc. The food was extremely good. The Chef & co-owner David explained me how to build my meal, was very welcoming & greeted me warmly when I had just arrived. I ordered Asada Carne bowl It was a pretty big bowl, nicely served, servi e was very fast & very pleasant. The music playing felt like home. Before leaving I did tell David that I would be back since I now work nearby.
Ecuadorean here 💛💙❤?
Thank you to the chef for bringing the flavours of home to Montreal. I love how the taste of Ecuador was delivered in a fusion style. There are little touches the Chef puts such as the sugar in the empanada that remind you of home 🏠 Overall a great food experience for a reasonable price. Hats off to the restaurant for offering Encebollado which is very rare to come by.I will be back to try the rest of the menu, mil gracias 😊
