La Hueca offers an authentic exploration of Ecuadorian traditions through vibrant and hearty preparations. The menu centers on the deep, savory notes of the encebollado and the dense, comforting texture of the bolon. Each bowl emphasizes fresh components assembled with care to preserve distinct, home-style flavors. These dishes carry a genuine warmth, relying on traditional recipes that prioritize satisfying, grounded ingredients over complex presentation. The atmosphere remains understated, allowing the rich spices and natural textures of the native cuisine to stand as the primary focus of every plate served in this modest space.

With affordable pricing and consistent quality, it remains a highly recommended hidden gem for anyone seeking delicious and satisfying Latin American food.
These days, food at food halls, in Montreal is far better than in the past & La Hueca is a reminder of that flattering pattern. What La Hueca said, La Hueca did: the flavour profiles were always genuinely Ecuadorian where it was advertised & that is, of course, a great thing. You have the Ecuadorian food staples, indeed, but you also have the bestsellers of South American &/or Latin American food such as salchipapas, empanadas, ceviche, etc. Next time, I will try the bowls (they look tempting). The food was great & the value too (quality food & yet, the tab is not high). A strong coup de coeur! PS: the service of the young classy & educated lady who was the counter attendant on this Monday July 13th was extraordinary / world class for this category of casual dining (at some point, a dude came & did interrupt her while she was talking to me. She excused herself to converse with the dude. You do not see such classy behavior at plenty of restaurants, in this day & age, so imagine at a food hall). Last but not least, plenty of local seasoned food enthusiasts as well as food experts told me that their restaurant Kawsay is one of the best restaurants in town (the quality of their brunch is highly praised, their dinner menu too, etc.), so I am looking forward to eating at Kawsay as well. Long Live La Hueca!
Food is fresh & delicious! Tons of options & flavours available. Service is a bit slow, but it's worth it, & staff are friendly & welcoming! I will definitely be coming back!
Fresh & authentic! I enjoyed it so much. I took the build your bowl & it was packed with flavour that I like. Price is good, less than 17$ for a bowl. The staff is also very friendly. My first time there & will be back to try other dishes.

Honestly one of my top lunch spots in Montreal-if not the top. I've been coming to La Hueca for the past year & have tried a variety of dishes from their menu, & every single one has been absolutely amazing. The flavours are bold, authentic, & incredibly satisfying.
I'm not usually the type to write reviews, but I felt compelled because they genuinely deserve the recognition. The owner is super friendly, & you can order either in person or through their easy-to-use automated screen. I love that there's a picture for every dish.
From the beef Empanada, Locro de Papa, shrimp ceviche soup, to their sandwiches & bowls-everything is bursting with flavour. Pure magic.
If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favour & GO.
Ecuadorean here 💛💙❤?
Thank you to the chef for bringing the flavours of home to Montreal. I love how the taste of Ecuador was delivered in a fusion style. There are little touches the Chef puts such as the sugar in the empanada that remind you of home 🏠 Overall a great food experience for a reasonable price. Hats off to the restaurant for offering Encebollado which is very rare to come by.I will be back to try the rest of the menu, mil gracias 😊
My first time having Ecuadorian food! Their bowls were delicious. Lots of flavour & I loved the different textures. I tried mote for the first time. It's giant corn kernels & tastes like potatoes. Their queso fresco is not too salty, like at some other places I've had. Service was warm & welcoming. It's in the Faubourg food court on the second floor towards the back. Follow the yellow tape on the ground, it will take you right there.
There isn't many Ecuadorian restaurants here in Montreal so when i found this restaurant I had to go try it & I wasn't disappointed the service was really good, they have a friendly staff & great atmosphere. The food is delicious!!! I had a pulled pork sandwich that was packed with flavour it was amazing. They also have some vegetarian options! Truly a hidden gem must try & I will definitely be coming back!
First time I try Ecuadorian food & La Hueca was great! Had the Ecuadorian marinated tofu bowl with a side of Yuca Great flavours & they give many options to customize the bowl. Their chimichuri & different mayo sauces compliment everything really well. Nice owners that took the time to explain to me what each item on the menu was & delivered the plate to my table Overall highly recommended for great flavours & really good price!
By far one of the best food establishments in Montréal. I tried this place for the first time 3 weeks ago & I've been back every week since. Not only is the food tasty & flavourful but it's also fairly priced. Definitely a hidden gem!
