Went for the first time & absolutely love the atmosphere. The staff was very friendly & I didn't know what to pick out of the different breads, croissants & delicious cupcakes. Ended taking butter croissants & a ficelle & I can confirm, you cannot be deceived by anything they have to offer. Croissants were fluffy & buttery, tasted heavenly. Definitely going back for more.
Ils sont rendus trop difficiles, entre le déjeuner & le dîner on est obligés de prendre le brunch, on ne peut pas prendre un café avec une croissante par exemple, comme avant. En plus. Il y avait des tables vides & nous ne pouvions pas choisir une autre table, ils étaient réservés, je me demande comment on fait pour réserver tel ou tel table??? Quand je réserve jamais ils m'ont demandé quelle table je veux... Entk, nous sommes partis, je me sentais comme dans une dictature!!! Dommage, parce que j'aime la place.

While the baked goods are lovely, staff needs to be better informed / documentation needs to be made available regarding potential allergens in their pastries & breads. My son has an egg allergy & we were given conflicting information on two different visits about whether their croissant had egg wash on it. I know Bête à Pain can do better than that.
We love it here! It's one of our go-to places in Laval for brunch! It never disappoints! Our favourites are definitely the croissant with salmon or smoked meat eggs benedict as well as the shakshouka! If it's your first time here, you definitely have to try their bacon! You could also get some pastries after your brunch, it's one of the best in Laval! ❤?
If you're going during the weekend, you have to make a reservation because it gets really busy!

During my recent visit, I had the opportunity to try a few different items: the soup of the day (creamy tomato), a dirty chai, a croissant, & a suisse. La Bête à Pain offers a well-rounded menu with fresh ingredients & expertly crafted pastries. The creamy tomato soup was comforting & came with a slice of fresh bread that complemented it well. The dirty chai was nicely balanced, & both the croissant & suisse showcased the bakery's strong pastry game. However, the service was slower than expected, which could be a downside if you're on a tight schedule. With a mix of rustic & modern touches, it's a pleasant environment where you can either relax & enjoy a meal or grab something to go. While the atmosphere is great, the service during my visit was notably slow. It wasn't that the staff was unfriendly-they were pleasant enough-but there was a bit of a wait for our food & drinks, which is something to keep in mind if you're in a rush. Soup of the Day (Creamy Tomato): The creamy tomato soup was a comforting & satisfying choice. Served with a slice of fresh white bread on the side, it added a nice textural contrast to the soup. The bread was soft & slightly chewy with a nice mild flavor, perfect for dipping. The soup itself was smooth & creamy, with a balanced tomato flavor that was neither too tangy nor too sweet. The subtle hints of garlic & herbs added depth, & the creaminess didn't overwhelm the natural tomato taste. It was filling & flavorful. Dirty Chai: The dirty chai was another highlight of the meal. The spiced chai was aromatic & well-brewed, complemented by the boldness of the espresso. The spices were balanced, adding warmth without being too overpowering, & the espresso was strong enough to give the drink a nice kick without overwhelming the chai. The milk was perfectly frothed, providing a smooth & creamy texture. While it wasn't overly sweet, it hit the right notes for a comforting, satisfying drink. For those with a sweeter tooth, however, it might feel a bit understated. Croissant: The croissant was a true standout. Flaky, buttery, & perfectly golden brown, it had the crisp, crunchy exterior you expect from a well-made croissant, & the inside was light & airy. The rich, buttery flavor was balanced-decadent, but not heavy. It paired perfectly with the soup & dirty chai, making it a solid, reliable choice. Suisse: The suisse, a pastry filled with almond paste, was also quite enjoyable. The almond flavor wasn't too sweet or artificial, & the pastry itself was just the right balance of flaky & soft. It had a nice nutty richness that complemented the buttery layers of the pastry, offering a satisfying bite. It wasn't overly sweet, which made it a pleasant treat without being overwhelming. Pros: • Freshly baked, high-quality pastries (croissant & suisse) • Flavorful soup of the day with a nice bread pairing • Well-balanced dirty chai • Cozy, welcoming atmosphere Cons: • Service was slower than expected, which could be a downside for those in a hurry • The soup could benefit from a bit more seasoning or texture to complement its creaminess In conclusion, La Bête à Pain in Laval is a great spot for a relaxing meal with excellent pastries & comforting food. Everything is good there but OMG the chocolate almond croissants are heavenly. My son loves the brioche with rock sugar on top & they always have great, personable service.
Une déception croissante J'ai été un grand admirateur de La Bête à Pain depuis son ouverture sur Fleury. La qualité des produits, leur fraîcheur & des prix raisonnables m'ont tout de suite charmé. C'était une boulangerie où l'on pouvait se faire plaisir sans se ruiner. Lorsque l'enseigne a ouvert à Laval, ma famille & moi étions ravis & y sommes allés à plusieurs reprises. Cependant, depuis plus d'un an, j'ai remarqué une hausse significative des prix accompagnée d'une baisse de qualité & de la taille des produits. Déçus, nous avons commencé à y aller moins souvent, mais l'option du restaurant nous semblait encore intéressante. Malgré des prix moyens, la qualité des plats & les portions étaient correctes. Malheureusement, notre visite de ce midi en famille sera la dernière. Payer 19 $ pour un burger sans accompagnement, c'est tout simplement abusif. Nous avons commandé une grosse portion de frites à 12 $, dans l'espoir de la partager à deux, mais j'ai été choqué par la taille miniature de la portion. Cela ne justifiait en aucun cas les 12 $ dépensés. Ma nièce avait pris un club déjeuner qu'elle n'a pas du tout apprécié. Curieux, plusieurs d'entre nous y ont goûté, & à notre grande déception, elle avait raison : des morceaux de pommes de terre brûlées gâchaient le tout. Un sandwich commandé était correct, mais là encore, beaucoup trop cher pour ce qu'il offrait. Le seul plat qui a su tenir ses promesses était le croissant bénédictine, aussi bon qu'à l'habitude, mais lui aussi victime de l'inflation : auparavant à 15 $, il est maintenant à 22 $. Cette augmentation de prix est difficilement justifiable, même pour un plat bien exécuté. J'aurais aimé rapporter des viennoiseries pour le petit déjeuner du lendemain, mais mon expérience désagréable m'en a dissuadé. Malheureusement, La Bête à Pain, autrefois une de mes adresses préférées, ne semble plus à la hauteur de sa réputation. Deux étoiles, & ce sera ma dernière visite.

Nous allons souvent à La Bête à Pain pour le pain & des pâtisseries : Croissant, chocolatine, financier a la framboise, madeleine au citron , noeud à la framboise, etc. C'est super bon & frais! Nous avons décidé de manger sur place avec leur menu à la carte. Superbe présentation, le goût est la ! Petit menu qui change ! Explosion de saveurs au rendez vous !
C'était bon mais un peu cher. Trop de monde. Les baguettes bonnes mais pas exceptionnelles. Pareil pour les croissants. Le brunch était bon mais un peu cher.
Nous y avons été pour le brunch. La nourriture est très bonne. Cependant, déception sur le prix versus la quantité dans l'assiette. Le Smach burger n'est servie avec rien. La portion risotto est ridicule = portion pour enfant. Le croissant bénédictine n'est servie avec aucun accompagnement... C'est cher pour une assiette quasi vide. C'est bon, mais malheureusement, ça va prendre du temps avant que nous y retournions.

De belles pâtisseries simples mais bien réalisées, une pâte levée feuilletée de qualité (croissants, noeuds etc.). Un royal avec une belle base croustillante. Une sélection de pains variée & grandissante. J'ai aussi récemment mangé à midi, & c'était très bon. La salle est jolie. Quelques grandes tables "communautaires". Si vous passez à côté & que vous êtes dans le trafic de la 15, faites y donc un arrêt gourmand !
Wow! Enfin, j'ai trouvé une place avec des vrais croissants au goût de ceux que je mangeais en voyage à Paris. Belle ambiance & excellents produits frais.
Been buying bread here for a long time. Always fresh & very tasty. The baguettes are amazing. This week, for the first time, my wife & I tried their Cappucino & croissants. The cappuccino was excellent, which they brought to our table, & the croissant was nice & crispy on the outside with a nice airy interior, with the best buttery taste. Not to mention, it was very relaxing in there.
La nourriture est excellente! J'ai pris le croissant bénédictine au jambon & c'était délicieux 👌 Je m'attendais toutefois à plus de choix de repas, mais je comprends que La bête à pain est principalement une boulangerie ce qui explique le plus petit menu. Personnel gentil & attentif!
